The game has brilliant, addictive design and it really stood out in arcade scene in dire need of original stuff. It was very close to making my list.

Because it's easily one of the best games ever made, and absolutely restored my faith in arcade gaming to create something simple and addictive that wasn't cookie cutter. It's fun as hell the first time you play, and yet incredibly deep. That's the formula right there.

  3. I don't think Sega made Iron Storm.... Yes, it was on the Saturn, but was made previous for the Duo (I got the japanese version of it).

I looked at the back of the booklet and it does say Original Game System soft 1988. What through me off, was that it says Iron Storm is a trademark of Sega enterprises,LTD, licensed by Working Designs.

Now, I'll have to edit my list.

  10. You know, I suddenly find myself with a newly found love for Outrunners. For some reason I never liked it as much back in the day. Maybe I was too focused on the multiplayer aspect (which is weak compared to games like Daytona), and less on the high score aspect like the original Outrun. But it really is damned fine. Felt like mentioning that in this thread because it was the most relevant one on the front page.
