They should stop right here. Do they still have the creative resources to make another decent Street Fighter? The man who designed Street Fighter II left Capcom, so who else is missing?
They made SF games with comprehensive 'dream match' rosters three times over (SFA3, CvS2 and SFII Hyper Edition) and the last official installment in the series was rock-solid in every department, respected by hardcore fighter fans everywhere. The graphics, sound and gameplay in SFIII: Third Strike will hold up for years and years.
No need to spoil the legacy if Capcom doesn't have what it takes to top their last efforts.

SF DOESN'T translate well to 3d, i thought we have been over this. Very few if any 2d fighters do without losing what made them memorable to begin with. If your really big on 2d to 3d games, you should pick up MKOriginally Posted by The_Meach

Icepick said it. Well, Arika did make the transition for them- and it wasn't exactly the most beautiful thing. I don't give a ratshit about Street Fighter EX when there's Street Fighter III. Something about the EX series' control feels a tad off.Originally Posted by The_Meach
I'll cede it to you that Soul Calibur 2 and VF4 Evolution are good- but they were created for 3D.
Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
It's odd to have a discussion about 3D fighters phasing out 2D fighters when there are plenty of 2D fighters in arcades or coming that will getting home releases when there isn't a single upcoming 3D fighter with a release date. I mean, we all know VF5 is in the works and SC3 will come out in 2010, but it'd be nice to have something to play until then.![]()

When it comes to making money in the arcades, some of this conversation remindme of that scene in the beginning of "Jay and Solent Bob Strike Back" Where Jason Lee does the "This is the pulse, this is your finger, far from the pulse and shoved straight up your ass." Or something like that.
Anyways, the only 3D fighter in almost any of the arcades in the southern Lousiania area are Soul Calubur 2 and one Tekken 4 machine. That is it. 3D fighters do not make money in arcades. Tao Feng... or what ever it is... would be even worse off in an arcade. Aside from VF4, there is almost nothing in the 3D fighter "universe" that comes as close to balanced/deep as some of the better 2D fighters. Who gives a rat's ass if you have "full 360 degreee movement"? You weren't using the X-axis properly before, why add Y?
I was going to say something similar.
Every arcade I've ever been to; the crowd's around MvC2, GG or 3rd Strike. VF usually collects dust, bored people play SC2, and I play Alpha 3 and destroy anyone that comes near.

SC2 is perfectly balanced: Everyone picks Cervantes.Originally Posted by Shapermc
