Those were great. That's pretty much exactly how I used to envision the action when I played with them as a kid. I'd set up the "base", and then have my custom Storm Shadow (spray-painted him black), or a heavily equipped Low-Light/Roadblock, infiltrate an annihilate everyone inside.

  3. l just hope the movie only concetrates on the Cobra origin for like 40 mins.. and stresses Cobra Commander, Destro, the Baroness, Major Bludd, and Firefly...the next movie can cover Ninja Land.. and the Joes get the usual suspects...Duke, Flint, Scarlett, Stalker, Roadblock and Snake Eyes. Then go the direction Transformers is going and add a shit load of characters next movie....and I've got the entire Marvel run..a great basis for the movies!

  4. No new news on this movie. But I do hope they stick with the story from the comic.

  5. There's no need to cover Cobra's origin. Just have them established already, but unknown to the general public.

Basically, the movie should open with some kind of terrorist act by Cobra. Cobra Commander sends a broadcast claiming responsibility. The Army brass gather to discuss how to combat them, and General Flagg recommends their special anti-terrorism task force…code name, G.I. Joe. We are introduced to the main Joes, The Pit, etc. Joe and Cobra have a few skirmishes, leading to a great big military freakdown at the end. Throughout the movie there should be some character interaction shown on both the Joe and Cobra sides so we get a chance to see all the characters we know and love and how they get along. The comic/cartoon should be followed to a T in all instances, but just set in a real-world setting and not done for camp value.

BTW, a Sergeant Slaughter cameo would be hilarious.

  6. They need this as an intro to Destro and Baroness.

  7. Sigh they can't make a live action GI Joe movie, its gonna suck period. They need to make something like Robotech.

I understand artistic license, I really do. Without it we wouldn’t have great movies such as the X-Men, Transformers and the Spider-Man films, but there are some things that need to remain true. GI Joe is now in the hands of Stuart Beattie, one of the most competent writers in Hollywood today and news is trickling in that will give fans a sigh of relief.

When it was officially announced that Stephen Sommers was going to direct GI Joe it was said that the team would be an international group of Special Ops based in Brussels instead of a group of U.S. Special Ops based here in the Good Ol’ U.S. of A. Well folks, looks like there is some minor tweaking in the works here (thank the gods).

We got a call from of our friends over at Paramount studios who told us that Joe will in fact not be based in Brussels. Also, while the team will be made up from an international background, it will be based here in the States. Let’s keep our fingers crossed since we are so early into the script phase.

I am going to take this moment to mention something real quick here. Another thing that (I believe) needs to happen is for Joe to be filmed here in the states. It worked for Transformers and it will most certainly work for Joe.

Mr. Sommers please take a page from the Michael Bay play book. Get the support of our military, shoot it state side and preferably here in California. Don’t shoot it in Canada and don’t shoot it overseas.
You are an American filmmaker working on the ultimate American toy line, you can call GI Joe whatever you like but for the fans it’s pretty simple, it’s the original action figure that children world wide have been playing with for the past 43 years and a name that has been associated with millions of the great fighting men and women of our country since World War II. There’s my two cents.
At least it will be on US soil now.
