Personally, I think it makes the whole rest of the game way easier. If you do a Y button counterattack with it, it will kill any grunts with one hit (except for the commando zombie bitches near the end). It also helps out greatly in boss fights where you only geat a few shots at hitting them (like the worms. When they flop down, do a jumping Y slash, with the sun armlet, and they'll go down quick.) Also, it's invaluble for the 60 fiend fight at the beginning of Ch.12

    Just my .02 cents though.

The Dahilabro does that too, has some good crowd-control combos, a decent essence combo, and looks cooler (not that there isn't something satisfying about beating things with a big wooden wedge). Not much use generally against bosses though.

Also, just so everyone knows, 60 monster fights become 80 monster fights on Hard (100 monster fights on Very Hard?)

  3. Yep, they go to a 100 on hard, though I haven't hit any of them yet. Currently a bit stuck on the tentacle boss. Well, not him exactly, he's still a chump. It's the six fire ninjas, five soldiers, and three of those big red demons that I need to fight before him that's the problem. By the time I reach the boss, I don't have enough potions to counter his block breaking attacks.

Fire ninjas are vicious on VH. They block air dashes, have arial attacks, and use their little bombs to break your defense and nail you with big combos. Just one of these guys can sometimes be a royal pain in the ass. Three is a nightmare and the first spawn is right in front of the save point. Give me a little breathing room at least, geez. I have money to spend so I'll probably buy a lot of potions and drink my way to victory.

  4. I have come to discover that this game is all about "drinking your way to victory."

If you have enough potions, you can tackle anything.

That's why the game has a scoring system. I know that buying items takes away essence points earned. The first time through potions were a necessary evil--and when you have tons of money you can max out your potions--but on subsequent trips I never bought potions. You really feel better when you don't use potions and talismans. The tranquility armlet is all you really need.

  6. Well, You DO need potions in the tight situations during boss fights, otherwise collecting Blue essense from enemies combined with Tranquility armlet is enough.

In whole game I havent bought a single Great Spirits Elixir, there are bunch of these still laying around in the chests, in case I might need one

    Learn how to fight them.

  8. Even if you learn on how to fight them, there plenty of cheap moves that the bosses do, that can catch you once in a while. Plus your favorite topic - NG camera issues dont make it easier

Sure you can go for the perfect game, replaying endlessly untill you get one fight without any scratches, but for me, if I can get through with use of couple small Elixirs, is just fine by me.

I can still buy my potions and obtain a Master Ninja rank on any given level, so long as I'm playing well.

You make it sound like I'm buying a full complement of consumables on every level, and to be honest, with the "bat trick," Essence acumulation in the Aquaducts is a joke.

And I wasn't aware that the game ranked based on Essence Total at the end of the level. I thought it was just the combos that you got points for.

I definately agree on lucky hits (and the latter ), but if a boss damages me to whatever I consider too much I'll just give up and wait for him to kill me to continue. Takes more time, but I got a lot better at the bosses and saved a crapload of cash on potions.
