Thread: Ninja Gaiden: Official Thread

  1. On my first run, I did pretty good. When I stopped, I was at 156 rank, now I'm at 194.

I'm making a second run through, because I have a better idea of what to do in order to score big points now. Unfortunately, it requires a lot more playtime, as the method I'm using is to just keep defeating respawn enemies for the extra time bonuses until the time bonus is miniscule or at zero. Trying to do it at every accessible area of every strage. I think that's the only possible way to get into the top 100.

  2. Doesn't that fuck up your stage end bonus? Are you still getting Master Ninja on every stage when you do that?

Let me know how that works out for you, 'cause if it works, I'll incorporate that into my strategy the next time through.

BTW, my playtime was just over 3 hours this time.

  3. If you get enough extra karma through all the killing, you get more than enough points through that at the end of the stage to get Master Ninja usually. Also, in the end, it's all about karma points, not stage rank.

Besides, if you're killing enemies within the time limit, which is like 15 seconds on average, then you don't really add THAT much time to your ending time in most stages.

Usually you finish without getting a time bonus for the stage, but the other points more than suffice. Also make sure to keep your ninpo full when you beat a stage, as you get another 100,000 karma points just for having full ninpo.

Explore the weapons too, you should really start smacking everyone up with the Dabilraho once you get that powered up, as it just decimates everyone within seconds. Definitely the fastest mass killer I've seen in the game. Even against a lot of the bosses.

  4. You think the Dabilraho is better than the Unlabored Flawlessness? The only weapons I used in the game were Dragon Sword (for most regular enemies and bosses) and the Flails (for the ghost fish) and once I got it, the UF.

  6. It's the fully upgraded wooden sword. Decimates the opposition.

  7. I would say that UF is the most powerful weapon, but Dabilahro is more effective at defeating several enemies at once. UF can kill any individual thing pretty easily and it retains the Izuna Drop combo which is focused on a single enemy at a time. Dabilahro's attacks generally swing with a large radius and hit several enemies at once.

It doesn't matter either way, because they both instant kill most enemies with the counter 8-)

  8. Yeah, mostly I just stand in the middle of a bunch of enemies, hold block and wait for them to attack. The counter will cut pretty much anything in half.

Thing is, if the Dabilahro really is as powerful as the UF, I could save about 45 minutes on my run by not stopping to get enough money to buy it. Do you think that's what I should do?

  9. Well you can make enough money to get it in like 5 minutes just by not killing the second monster in the lava after you instead the Vigoorian Shield in the caverns. Simply beat the first one with the Flail's Cremator attack while wearing an Armlet of Benediction, and then you get about 8,000 essence each time you do that. Leave the room, repeat. Try to get at least an above 50 combo for max essence.

Anyway, checking up on the Master Ninja tournament, and doing what I've been doing, I just barely got over 10,000,000 by level 14, and I still have a lot to do in the last 2 stages. I checked the rankings and the guy at the top has almost 30,000,000 points. I have no idea how to get into that range, and no one else is even close.

Anyway, if you get 10,000,000 plus, you've pretty much got a spot in the top 100 for the time being. There are still some 9,000,000 and 8,000,000 people in there.

Anyway, everyone seems to be going all out. Itagaki's game was clearly a success. I still can't stop playing it and it's been two months already.

  10. Okay, well I just finished my 2nd and hopefully final run on the Master Ninja Tournament, using the strategy I planned out in the previous posts.

My rank as of today, is 27 out of 897. I have a feeling that it will go down quite a bit before the tournament is over, but I think I've secured myself a spot in the top 100.
