Thread: Cheap toys at walmart

  1. #51
Now that I am going to a different college, I will admit I usally go to Target first. But that is mainly for their substitute service. That and sometimes you can find good games marked down, like Megaman battle network for 15 bucks.

  2. shidoshi: maybe if Target had great prices on their toys, this thread would be titled "Cheap toys at Target". STFU.

I hate Wal-Mart, Target, and any other discount store. I don't care if you're black, white, hispanic, asian, whatever - if you're shopping there regularly, you're lazy trash. End of discussion. I get annoyed by the clientele of those stores without even having to go inside - I just need to get close to a Wal-Mart.
Then take your $32,000 and shop somewhere else. And then, stick the shopping cart up your ass.

actually Target sometimes does have cheap toys. But they are usally lame ones that are being marked down because no one wants them and not becuase of over stocking.

  4. I agree with Diff to a certain extent here. If you don't like Wal-Mart, fine, don't shop there. Don't berate others for shopping there though. I like going there to snag $6 2 DVD sets of classic shows and horrid b-movies. If I'm supporting an evil empire of immoral CEOs by getting Hercules in New York for $6, so be it.

The first line was meant as the response for you. The other was in reguards to people accusing Walmart of selling cheap products made in other countries.

    end of line

Anyways, I made 40K last year and still bought my groceries at Walmart. At the beginning of the year I was going to Super Target (Or whatever they call it) and noticed that most items were still cheaper at Wally world. The Tom Thumb grocery chain was pretty much raping me at the register.

Shopping at Walmart, is being a smart consumer. I'd rather save about $50 at the register, when buying groceries, then be concerned about mom and pop. If mom and pop are getting beat out, it's time they learned to diversify what they have to offer, or get another trade.

I can understand that. Hell, I agree with it.

Mom and Pop stores are generally frequented by their usual customers. They have the people who support them and then they have impulse buyers. If one of those loyal customers starts shopping at one of Big Corp's stores, they need to focus on getting more loyal customers. A big chain doesn't need to worry as much about customer loyalty in the long run because loyalty to them is provided by the low prices. Owning a Mom and Pop store isn't about getting rich, it's about providing a "hometown" alternative for the few people who don't go to Big Corp stores. If Mom and Pop stores are going to do well, they need to market wisely and spend their money well. Sometimes they get lucky and hit it big, but then they get gobbled up by Big Corp anyway and are no longer Mom and Pop.

That's what's going on where I am now. We were pretty low-profile but the boss has been aggressively focusing on big clients: Boeing, insurance companies, law firms, and the like. However, if he wants to keep the momentum going, he needs to play it wise and get the right sales and support people. My boss is doing really well so far, and if he can, so can Mom and Pop who run the little corner store near Wal-Mart.

    Sorry for that diatribe.
