Why, I think, Nintendo has not lost its touch

Nintendo's refusal to even consider online play is one reason why I have bought 10 new games since the GC's launch, and 13 games in total.

The other reason is because there's just nothing there anymore that screams the old Nintendo quality. Prime and AC were the only Nintendo games this generation that did that. WW was an exercise in boredom and Sunshine, while fun, was clearly a step down for the mighty Mario.

I'm sick of this connectivity bullshit, releasing shit and not supporting it (E-REader, modem), and the utter apathy Nintendo has towards what the consumer wants. I will buy the good games that come out, but I don't see the GC being even my #2 system for the remainder of its life span. They dropped the ball with the N64 and just have no idea what the fuck they're doing this generation. Nintendo is the Sega of the new millenium and it sucks.

You know, I really wanted to throw my lot in with Nintendo this gen. Granted, I snagged the Xbox first (due solely to Panzer Dragoon Orta), but Nintendo was the only company that felt ole' school, and dammit, if I couldn't support a Sega console I'd support a Nintendo one.

The only problem was that I had skipped the N64 days... so I was going into the GC with SNES expectations. And wow... was I ever let down.

Mind you, the Gamecube is a nice console. Its not the worst that ever was, and it definitely brings about its own unique feel. But damn Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine are boring as all hell. I mean, I was enjoying the hell out of Wind Waker until I had to search the ocean for hours looking for treasure; who in the hell thought that would be fun!? When I start to feel like I'm plowing through a game just to get to the next part, something is wrong. And aside from Wind Waker I believe Mario Sunshine, F-Zero, Star Fox Adventures, and Eternal Darkness are the only 1st party (Is ED 1st or 2nd party?) titles I own. And the only one I really got any true enjoyment out of was F-Zero... which was made by Amusement Vision anyways.

So yeah, Nintendo is definitely far far faaaar away from making the type of games they made back in the SNES days. Can't really comment on the N64 since I never really messed with it (although most of that was Rare anyways wasn't it?)

Then again, I can't really point the finger at just Nintendo. It seems like all the developers are in some kind of slump these days: Sega, Capcom, I would say Squeenix but I'm sure FF fanboys would eat me alive, Rare, etc. Not saying the aforementioned developers aren't making good games... but I am saying that they really aren't making stuff that lives up to their work from the 90s.

At least Treasure still kicks ass (I think, I never got to play Wario's World or Astro Boy, and I have no idea what they're working on now... so I could be wrong. Eeek!)

Something's definitely wrong with the developers. They're just stagnant. I think one of the problems with Nintendo as they're not seen as a big force anymore. Things like connectivity and no broadband support, yet they released a broadband modem, is ridiculous.

Consumers don't like to see things not be supported. It makes their purchases of the systems feel unsupported.

Interesting Shaper, but yes I'd have to agree with Andrew, I'd like to see a remake of OoT just like everybody else. Problem with remakes is, 95% of the time, they fuck it up. Like if I really wanted a FF7 sequel, I'd like to see it go on the PS3 with 3 DVD's or something, instead of some crappy rehash.

Aye, but this is a fan product. I think that it is great to see that N could still have made that game 2D and had it look sweet (I am very tempted to play thought it in 2D now)

BTW- I played FF7, why do it again with shiny new GFX? The gameplay is still going to be the same I assume.
