I was pissed when I found out they had cancelled Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder 2, since the first game is one of the best and most challanging THPS clone, it's easily my favorite snowboading game. But it was probably for the best, since it wasn't going to be developed by Dearsoft but by Treyarach, and even though they have experience with THPS games (their DC ports are excellent) their original title, Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer was dissapointing.

Actually, Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder 2 was supposed to be developed by Monkeytropolis (they were announced as the developer of the sequel before the original was even released), which was made up of all ex-Neverhood employees. Supposedly they were making the game to get the funds for a possible Neverhood sequel. However, Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder 2 was cancelled, Monkeytropolis couldn't find another gig, and they closed up shop. Shame.

That's actually the first game that came to mind to me for some reason. I remember that Play had like multi issue coverage and interviews on and about it. And it was supposed to have Traci Lords in it as Lust ah well guess it mustve sucked...

That was the case at first, but they decided to go with Treyarch instead.

Damn 92.95?! Why won't they refund it? Did it charge you that for a month?

I had set my Auto-Renewal to No. In fact, I had set my Auto-Renewal to No SEVERAL times, but every so often it would seem to reset (after board maintenance typically).


Right after Christmas I became fairly strapped for cash since I had taken off of work for 4 weeks due to exams/holidays. When I get back to work I got a paycheck for about 90$(this was from before the holidays) so when the time came around for my next paycheck (get paid bi-weekly) I was pretty damn low on funds (about 5.46 to be precise).


Little did I know that once again my Auto-Renewal had been reset(mind you, I set it to NO the day after Christmas), and so the day before I got my paycheck IGN overdrew my account and I got a 29.00 overdraft fee. That same day I had bought a box of CapriSun and 2$ of gas, which adds up to 3.75, which was less than I had in my account. WAS, until IGN overdrew me. So then I got 2 more overdraft fees, so 29.00*3 + 5.95 = 92.95. If I recall correctly by the time I got my paycheck I had around -91.24. Since I had missed one week of work for that pay period due to my vacation, my new paycheck was 102.21. So I had 10.97 to live off of for 2 weeks, and I had NO gas. Oh, and I should note that I have a couple of Ebay sellers breathing down my neck.


To make a long story short, 10.97 didn't last too long... so I had to go to Gamestop and sell my entire Gamecube collection (except my PSO mem. card and PSO) for the grand total of 67.24. Thats a Gamecube, 5 games, and a Wavebird.


And I even emailed IGN about this when I first saw what had happened and ASKED to have my Insider canceled and to be refunded AT LEAST 34.95 to make up for what THEY cost me directly, I was even going to let the indirect stuff slide. What did they say?
"Oh, we'll refund you for the Insider but not the overdraft fee."


1 week later, I STILL haven't been refunded for the Insider. So F*** IGN! Every board I go to, every website I make, and every chance I get I'm going to tell people to avoid this place like the plague and relay this story. Some how or another I'm going to keep the 92.95 that they practically stole from me(actually its more considering I now have to buy back my entire GC collection) out of their pockets.

Valuable lesson here: If you sign up for Insider, do it with a few co-workers and make sure one of them uses their credit card, and just give them your cut in cash.

jp, that sucks big-time man. While I can't say as I'm too shocked at IGN's response, it is disheartening to see yet another company that won't own up to its mistakes.
