Here's my little problem. I'm looking at around $250 to get online with FFXI.

FFXI w/HD - $100
router - $60
Sony BA - $40
cables & keyboard - $50(?)

But, I don't see a game in near future other GT4 that I will probably want to play online unless I'm missing something. That's a lot of dough for one game. I loved me some PSO back the DC, so if it's good or better then it "might" be worth it, but who knows without trying it out.

On the other hand I'm thinking about buying an GBA SP. I haven't owned a hh since the ngpc and that was my first hh system ever. There seems to be a ton of great games, but I can't afford both. What would you do?

You're insane if you spend $250 on FFXI. It's not even good. Just get the PC rev if you have to get it, but better yet, don't get it at all.

An SP is a good choice, but just giving me $250 would be a better use of your money than spending it on FFXI.

It's just my opinion, but I hate all those games anyway. They're just colossal wastes of time.

DL Everquest or something and see if you like these kind of games first or just get the PC rev for $40-50. $250 is insane for any game, and it's more insane for a game you don't even know you're gonna like that is going to hit you with monthly fees as well.

IMO FFXI is not a bad option if you want to play an MMORPG and only have a console. If you have a PC there are better options (DoAC).
If you have not played an MMORPG, but are seriously finding yourself interested in FFXI and only have a console, pick up an Everquest adventures demo (free ) and see how it works. Mind you, FFXI is better, but the general gameplay is pretty much the same.
IMO I can not see FFXI being worth more than just the cost of the monthly fee to most gamers, let along the buy-in costs.

Hardly, but that is for another thread. It is obvious in the PC rev that it was made for a console, and that is not a compliment.

It does kick the shit out of PSO though.

Anyone who assumes that is an indicator of the genre will never, ever buy another MMORPG. That game is horrible.
