After watching the Firefly episode I was just about to mention the last 3 that appeared. I did find it odd that nobody really talked about it, I thought you guys were fed up with it after the reruns.

I skipped the Man Bat one, but the Mr Freeze one kicked ass, and this Firefly one is on the right track as well.

Origins, awesome action, good story, Adam West doing a voice.

Hated to see Bats rely on another gimmick suit for Mr Freeze, but it made sense since Freeze had about 100 times more power.
The Manbat one, you're not missing much. The original one was way better since it had a horror vibe to and the character was much less shallow. The flight sequences were also much more awesome in the original.

Mr. Freeze was much better despite the same problem I had with him as I had with Man Bat's origin and criminal motivation. The suit looked really awesome, not cooler than the Batman Beyond Freeze but maybe just as cool.

I had the same thoughts on the white anti freeze batsuit, but I thought it looked cool and served it's purpose at least. It kind of reminded me of Nite Owl at the Ozymandias's headquarters in the freezing snow in The Watchmen.

BTW did they retcon Mr. Freeze's story? I thought this was supposed to be Batman's earlier years so making all these villains meet him so soon when they should have been in the grown up Bruce Timm animated series is a bit confusing. That is unless the Batman is a retelling and uses all these villains up in Batman's earlier career.

[quote]This Firefly is espically good, lots of good action, and I believe this is the first episode where we've seen Batman and Bruce Wayne's life actually intersect.

In the last cartoon, Firefly was a joke of a character, but in this one he's awesome. He's got the look, the firefly trail when he flies, and he even makes buzzing noises. Way to make a shitty character completely awesome.

Not to mention the jokes in this episode were pretty spot on as well. I think this episode finally got the whole procedure right this time, it all finally came together.
    IBTN.

He was pretty much a joke of a character like in Justice Leage(Love when GL captures him and volcana in the green bubble and says "Knock yourselves out!") and in the Batman episodes where I mostly remember him from that awesome Frank Miller'like story they told.

What stood out was that he was pretty incompetant but here he was much more formidable with the show's more techy upgrades. The flight stuff was cool, I love how Batman just gave him the beating of his life.

Not to mention he also had that heavy fucking backpack on while trying to do some karate on him

Also, it seems WB ran the older episodes again so they were waiting to show all new episodes during their special, dubbed "New-vember". Stupid, but oh well. The episode on the 27th has the Ventroliquist, and the episode next week has someone dubbed "The Cluemaster"? Not sure why he's not The Riddler, but oh well.
Is he that fat fuck I saw with these characters on him in the ad for it for "new-vember"?

  2. The Cluemaster episode came on this morning and it was....well ..a bit weird. The Cluemaster is one of the first villians for this show whose character isnt as cool as the original. Funny? yes. The Jabba the Hut look to Artie Brown, I defintely wasnt expecting.Cool? not quite. But,maybe thats what the writers were going for. I guess we have enough cool villians in the show, guess we needed a quirky one to balance it out a bit.

Besides that though the episode seemed really slow, and I didnt enjoy seeing Batman get worked by a group of midgets with shirts over their heads.

Oh heres a pic of the Cluemaster from the normal DCU comics so you guys who havent seen him before can compare:

Cluemaster on the far left in OJ - his crime fighting daughter in the black mask in the middle

And heres Artie Brown's (aka Cluemaster)daughter as the recently new Robin in the Bat Books...seriously...(weird because she kind of has that Dark Knight Robin look)

  3. When did Robin become a chick?

And Superboy became halfway cool looking?

This summer. I quit reading after it happened, but it seemed to be a cool concept.Batman trained her up pretty hardcore from the issue I read. The Robin before her had to quit because his dad found out about his "extracurricular activities".

I hate you guys for making me want to read comics again. I quit cold turkey like 5 years ago, but I really enjoy being a useless repository if DCU information. Not knowing what is up with the Bat these days makes me want to run out and get bags and bags of comics =(

I wish I could steal comics online like music and games =(

    Same here dude

I quit for monetary reasons, but if I could find away to hook it up online somehow I would.

  8. i just let my friends buy comics and read theirs. saves me a ton of money and my room stays free of messy "comic piles."

You can't? Gee, I wonder where these few hundred comic books sitting on my HD came from.

Also, I'm glad to see Robin's rope is McFarlane-style Spiderman webbing. Something kinda wierd about that.

They pretty much summed it up. What they didn't mention is that She was fired as Robin 3 or 4 issues after that for not obeying orders and putting herself and batman both at risk. After that she was responsible for starting the giant ass War Games story that just concluded. She was killed by Black Mask at the end of it.

Superboy has been going through changes in the Teen Titans comic. He's getting older now, and since he was designed to be like Superman, he's beginning to develop more of his powers. He now has Superhuman strength, Super hearing, X-ray vision, and Heat Vision. The advantage he has over superman is that he also has Telekinesis.
