whoops.
Who said anything about that? He responded as such because someone made the comment that Sega Sports is better and XBox needs them, to which was said that mainstream gamers (a main flow of cash for the industry) won't buy Sega Sports anyway, just EA's lineup.Originally posted by MrKasualUltra2000
if an EA game is good, so be it, refusing to play a game becuse mainstream gamers play it, is assanine.
Not if you play EA games you're mainstream, but if you're mainstream you play EA games. Difference.
whoops.
Mainstream gamers won't buy Sega Sports? I don't know any sales figures between them and EA on the matter, but if you're right then I guess Sega's rumored departure from the X-Box wouldn't be such a disaster afterall.Originally posted by MechDeus

How has VF4 sold anyway? I'm sure it hasn't broken the long-standing curse upon the series in this country, but maybe it did decently after the massive ad campaign, right?
no, mainstream gamers play tony hawk and GTA3.

No matter how many times you may wish to tell me otherwise, this statement makes it pretty clear you haven't spent any time with Halo or Project Gotham, two of the best games released on any system in recent years.Originally posted by Rob
The Xbox has nothing to offer on its own.

All of Sega's Sports titles sells VERY well, and does more than hold up its end against the EA games. Remember that. And VF4 was the first title to dethrone GTA3 from the number one spot since it came out. It's selling VERY well here in the states, as well in Japan. Remember that.
I haven't given my props to the 'Box recently... please, indulge...
Sega WAS the driveing force to my getting an Xbox and they still continue to keep me interested but lo... from out this system I have gleaned great joy from games NOT made by Sega... rather they are from the unlikely source of Microsoft. The future looks good on the system. Very pleaseing. Along with the plethora of Mech games mentioned before, there is also the promise that maybe FPS's won't suck on a console.
I won't hold my breath for Wolfenstein to kick more ass than the PC version, but Unreal Championship and Bounty Hunter look great. Hunter the Reconing not only looks good but appears to PLAY good. Promiseing not but one but MANY bucket loads of enemies to toss at you at roughly ALL times. I'm game for that. Some of you might like placeing crystals in doorknobs to open a chamber 20 game minutes away from you that will invariably lead you to another set of arbitary puzzles and perhaps an enemy or two... but it's all about the story and atmosphere right?Needless - Hunter ofers very little in the way of this. Bravo! For the PC impaired (by Impaired I mean the people who do NOT have anything at or beyond the quality of a GeForce 3 and a 1.2Ghz CPU) there is Marrowind. How keen is that? Any system with this is no man/womans' waste of time. Period.. the kind that comes at the end of sentances.
Project Ego, I could not argue, is not coming soon; but the fact something, SOMETHING, that could potentially be better than Marrowind is nigh serves only to delight. The fact that it is incomeing only to Xbox would stand to reason that Xbox = Good. Sadly the argument goes - were it not for Xbox the good games would be coming to MY system. I'm sorry - were it not for the Saturn Nights would be on MY Playstation. Bastards!
Microsoft can't make any good games!
I say look at Rallisport. Simply LOOK at it. Stunning graphics not your bag? Well, how wou YOU like a game that's basically Sega Rally 3?
Take a look at Quantum Redshift too while you're at it... it's in the Headlines section - or just go to www.microsoft.com and take a gander at thier Xbox section.
With this and Brute Force, along with the already released and acclaimed Halo, PGR and the highly under-rated and misunderstood Amped, Microsoft is making a killer system all on their own.... I can't speak for Nezmix... I want to play it though. Oh, then there's the come or go Oddworld (I don't like it, but EThugg does.. take that how you will) the shitty Azurik and Nightcaster. Poor poor poor! Looks like MS is still a mixed bag as a game pub.
I like MS more often than not. Dungeon Siege, Asherons Call (too bad the Player vs. Player scene there has died down in favor of the perhaps never-to-be-released Shadowbane. Will it r0X0rz as they promise?) and the coming of Rise of Nations which holds much promise for the ever dwindling fan-base of Turn-Based PC Strat games. Otherwise, Age of Empires is keen IMO. So - I like MS Games. They're more good than ever they are bad. I don't love 'em but with games that have the intensity, narcotic addictiveness (is this even a word?), and scope of Halo and Dungeon Siege, the graphics and style of Quantum Redshift and Rallisport and the full-scale realization of what a next-gen game PLAYS like in PGR and Amped (a snowboarding game that actually GETS it) is something that I think can't be reviled. Tastes are diffrent, opinions are just that - but for the love of god - there are games that GET IT and games that DON'T. The games I listed (except the ones that are noted as crap for contrast) do indeed get it.
MS doesn't MAKE those games!
And I didn't make the language I defaulted to type this in. In any case, that doesn't change a damned thing. Just because they didn't make it doesn't mean the games they publish somehow don't count. The future of Nintendo's first party output will come, in some elusive precentage, from Namco. If anything - MS haveing multiple branches of game development is little diffrent from Sega haveing multiple branches of developement. Future games from Red Company will likely get the universal praise directed squarely at Sega Enterprises and not Red Company. Bungie, Gas Powered, Big Huge Games and more are just wholly owned sectons of.

For you. For me to have played them, I would have to be at least remotely interested at some point, which I never have been.Originally posted by StriderKyo

1.) Halo. I don't like first-person shooters. I think that settles that. 2.) Project Gotham Racing. I already fell for the "greatness" of Gran Turismo. No thanks.
All a matter of opinion.
