Thread: Hopefully just a rumor concerning SEGA/Xbox support.....

Different style of game entirely; Gotham's an arcade racer. And because one racing game didn't live up to the hype in your eyes, none of them do? That makes Rocket Knight Adventures a bad game because Bubsy sucked.

Gran Tourismo has an arcade mode also. I've played Metropolis Street Racer, and thought the game was just lame. Point deductions for hitting curbs, and crappy music. The game was basically Test Drive 6 with added nuances. Project Gotham was basically an upgrade to MSR, and basically eye candy, as far as I'm concerned.

Halo is just a better version of a console FPS. Sure it has other grand features within the game, but some people just don't care for the repetetive nature of the genre. I've tried to like the FPS games, but the only one I found enjoyable, was Alien Front Online, and it was more akin to Twisted Metal.

On that note, you would be a hypocrite if you didn't try games that transcend the genre, am I right? If you hate all aports games and don't try the ones that go beyond all those before them, doesn't that mean you are being the same way?

I'll try to think of stellar games that push the genre in the direction of fun. Sega Soccer Slam comes to mind, Virtua Tennis, Mario Tennis, Hot Shots, Mario Golf and NBA hoops come to mind. Tried any of these?

when did i say i dont try them ? oh wait, i didnt.

PGA Golf 2 for the genesis = best sports game ever made.

i just dont like sports games in general. im not being a hyprocrite. i've played NFL 2k, NBA street, bunch of soccer games, etc etc, and once in a blue moon ill find one that is mildly engaging, which is why i suggested atleast tryig HALO.

the reference to sports games wasnt to unintentionally expose some inherent hypocracy in my post, it was just to acknowledge the fact that some people just dont like certain games.

This goes back to me not having the system or having a reason to have the system. I certainly wouldn't buy it because other people like Halo.

I hate repetitive games... oh wait - just about EVERY GAME is repetitive. AND every game is at least as repetitive as Halo is. Most are moreso.

At least some games blend in puzzles and storyline to make the experience a little more than repetetive. Play a game like Shining Force III and see that even though the game uses a lot of the same methods of gameplay, it also requires some serious thought to reach the goal. Shooting at the same aliens over and over again, is more repetitive than using a different weapon, to outdo an opponent as say a FPS would require. Sports games like NFL at least require a heavier thought pattern, than a FPS, as you just memorize the level, and know the safe spots, to await an enemy. To each their own. I just find FPS games to be lacking in varienty, and even a good shooter provides more entertainment.

Skill isn't exactly what one would need to play a game like PGR. Play F355 and then see how hollow the gameplay is in PGR. Racing against a time clock, is not my idea of a fun racer. Bumping other cars, and using the walls to your advantage make the game more enjoyable. Racing around a square track is not my idea of fun. Daytona did'nt become the most popular arcade racing game ever, by being boring and without a feeling of challenge from the cars on the track. Maybe if PGR provided more than racing againxt a clock, and 3 other cars, it would be a little more exciting. Eye candy does not make a game fun. PGR is just Test Drive 5 with a few more options.

At its most basic level - it is repetitive. Shoot stuff. Shoot stuff from vehicles. This is your objective.

It's HOW you do it though. Personally, against Covenant in Indoor levels. I perfer not to be seen. So, I usually use sniper weapons or melee attacks. There are a lot of pillars to hide behind. Wait for patroling Elites and club them when they pass you. One hit, one kill.

Guardians cannot be Ramboed to death unless you have the RL. Pull out the trust pistol and get in close. Let them charge you and side step as they swipe at you with a melee attack. Shoot in the exposed oragne area on their back and ONE bullet kills them whereas 12 rounds of the shotgun close range to their breastplate do nothing. There's a lot of tactic in getting though without loseing your head in Legendary. This can be seen as a kind of active puzzle solveing... which is much better than putting a syringe in a piano to make a chandaleer fall in a tyrant or some shit.

F355 is admirable - but not fun IMO.

PGR doesn't use wall to your advantage.. MSR did, PGR did not.
