Thread: Do your SPs scratch easily?

  1. I'm soaking up this anti-scratch info, while I'm not to worried about a small, hairline scratch on it, as I probably wouldn't be able to see it, I am concerned about multiple ones coming up easily, which I could see. I think I'll snag a carrying case of some sort the next time I'm at EB, it'll be trade-in credit put to good use.

Well, being comforted by the fact that everybodys' is scratched and there's nothing you can do to avoid it would make me feel better. Also, I'll buy another one if they ever release a Hello Kitty edition so I'll use any tips towards that one in the future.

And I do have a case which I almost always use. One of those AirForm ones and it works great. But it also makes it about twice as bulky so if I'm going somewhere nearby I don't like to use it. I assumed my pocket was just as safe (minus keys) but maybe there's fibers or something in there causing damage, I don't know.

But now Im like that with my guitar, so I guess its a lose-lose.
It's different with a handheld though, especially one as minimalist and sleek as the SP. You don't want to ghetto it all up if you can help it.

  3. Now that I look at it mine has a ton of ultra light scratches all over it. I really couldn't care less, I bought the thing to play games on not look pretty and I have no intention of selling it.

People knew about the shitty finish Nintendo put on it days after it came out in Japan. The link I provided is on PGC, the guy is whining/crying that his GBA SP was scratched up half a day after he received it. What scratched it? That ultra-hard material that they use to forge the GBA GAME CARTS!

For what it's worth, I think the article is hilarious.

I think its very very hard to help it with the SP.

I am so glad that I'm getting rid of the whole "scratches = evil" mentality with handheld stuff. Perhaps I'm just treating my stuff with less "respect", but I've dropped my sleek cell phone and MD player at least 5 times each. They look like crap, but who cares, they both work.

I think that it gives them character; I don't like that squeaky-clean look anyway.

Okay, that is like going to the other exteme.

  7. I've always thought that if Nintendo ever got into AIDS SP , if the technology allowed us, the first thing I would work on is a giant Donkey Dong Robot. Then, if I ever found myself out of a wife, I could wear the Donkey Dong suit and... do some kind of part time blow job service with it.- Miyamoto

  8. I'm too lazy and poorly funded to go out and buy a case, so I usually toss mine inside a clean sock or something if I'm leaving it in my backpack. Since girl's jeans have ridiculous pockets, I can't store an SP there.

The thing scratches like mad. I hate all those hairline marks on it... At least the screen's held up well.

  9. That's funny. I'm not at all anal about scratches and shit on my GB, especially my SP, because I figure the outside is to protect the important stuff inside from being scratched in my pocket, like the screen of my original GBA was. For what it's worth, though, I'm awful to the thing. I drop it in my pocket with T tokens, change, sometimes my room key in it, and there's not a scratch on it. It even fell on a tile floor once. Nothing.

    It's platinum, too. Odd.

Normally I'd agree, but not when I have a really valuable limited edition model. I may just try to touch it up and sell it - it's sort of stressful to own.
