Thread: The Pile of Shame Warpact

  1. Annnnnnnd finished FFTA. Whoever green lighted this wretched abomination of a 'story' should be shot. I doubt many 5 year old boys would find it entertaining.

... otherwise, good mechanics, but way too easy due to poor ai. And the law system sucked. A poor legacy to FFT. I give it a meh out of five.

FFT otoh, is thoroughly enjoyable. Finally on chapter 4 after that @#$#@$ of a fight at the end of C3. I doubt I'll run into many difficulties on the way to the endgame, as my characters are all rather strong. It would seem I left this save file in good shape the last time I played it.

  2. Sorted out stuff to start going through again, with DMC and Ninja Gaiden on top of the "why the fuck didn't I finish playing these?" stack. Last nights attempts to make some progress were interrupted by me making the mistake of laying down while waiting for laundry to finish, and subsequently waking up at 6am this morning.

Is the last boss Mewt's mother? That's where I am now. I got spanked because I didn't bother to optimize my party for the fight. That 2nd form's defense is through the roof.

I can appreciate the problem. Although I've moved to DOTA lately, which gets played every night.

With all of that WOW time though, I'm sure your stack has grown some eh? Cleanse yourself! Molten Core will still be there.

Actually, I've only bought a couple of GBA games this year, beat them, and even beat some older GBA games during my lunch hour at work.

So it's really saved my wallet and halted the pile =O

  7. Yeah, MMOs have that effect We all kinda burned ourselves out on WoW. I'm sure we'll go back to playing it at some point. Hero classes and/or expansion pack perhaps.

And Omega: Yep. Go charge up your JP to full, save them for that fight, and obliterate her with a few combos.

    btw Mas, nice Avatar!

  8. I have two hours left in Xenosaga II and I can remove it from my pile.

But I haven't touched it in about a week because of Halo 2.

  9. You sir, have more fortitude than I. The early scenes just weirded me out hard. I may sit back down with it again at some point though. Not on my Pile. What'd you think of the combat mechanics?

I also sat down and looked over my full pile. There isn't a whole lot left, but there are a few whammies on it.

    Playstation: 3

    Arc the Lad 2
    Arc the Lad 3
    Final Fantasy Tactics

FFT will go down soon. Thoroughly enjoying it. Arc 2 I'm about half way through, but... I dunno. I kinda lost interest in it. The combat was really basic. Story was surprisingly dark, and not especially entertaining. Prospects of me actually making it to 3: poor

    Dreamcast: 1

    Record of Lodoss War

I actually have a bunch of other DC titles I didn't finish (Skies of Arkadia, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2), but I don't really care about those. The rest are shooters that I play regularly, but don't count. Lodoss though, I enjoyed playing, just got distracted and stopped playing about half way through, as per usual.

    SNES: 1
    Ogre Battle

    N64: 1
    Ogre Battle

Hah! At least I don't have TO hanging over my head anymore :P Looking forward to playing the SNES one to get the backstory on some important characters in TO, and I'm not sure what the N64 version covers exactly. I may play the snes one emulated, as having a speedup function *really* makes the maps go more smoothly.

    GBA: 3
    Golden Sun
    Advance Wars
    Mario & Luigi

This is a grim mess I really enjoyed Golden Sun at the beginning, but then it started to grate on me. I'm now about half way through. Mario & Luigi was similar - I thought it was really cute and fun to start, but somewhere along the line, the epic story of the Beanbean kingdom just wasn't doing it for me. Advance Wars I just haven't played much - too many other cool srpgs in my pile.

    Xbox: 3

    Jet Set Radio Future
    Turok
    Gunvalkyrie

Ugh, ugh, and ouch! JSRF I have no excuse for :P I'm even fairly near the end. I think skyscraper level did me in (though I'm past that). Turok... I plead guilty. I think that one is still on my pile as punishment for buying it in the first place. GV never got love due to distraction by Otogi/Otogi2/NG

    Gamecube: 5

    Pikmin
    Lost Kingdoms 2
    Viewtiful Joe
    PNO3
    Fzero GX

Yawn, hmm, sigh, meh, and sigh. I had a save near the end of Pikmin, and accidentally deleted it, thinking I had it on another (non .05k) gc memory card. Haven't had the will to replay it. LK2 I'm sure I'll get around to. The first game was cool, I finished it, and 2 just has more of the good stuff. VJ stopped due to literally giving me headaches (the underwater echoy reverby level, eww). And PN03. Yeah. I just pull that out to make people giggle at her rump shaking. I think the real problem was I got involved in finishing all of the bonus levels, so it was fairly slow going. I have no excuse for Fzero. You may shoot me.

    Playstation 2: 4

    AC2: AA
    Wizardry
    Shinobi
    Disgaea

Armored Core 2: Another Age :/ That was dumb. I beat the others, and enjoyed them, but I dunno if I could play this again... Wizardry is really cool, I'm a bit more than half way through it, just haven't sat down to finish it. Shinobi - haha! I should just remove that. I _like_ it. But after NG, it just permanently collected dust. Disgaea is actually accompanied by La Pucelle and maybe Phantom Brave as well.

Ah well. Cleaner than it was a few years ago, that's for sure. I knocked off a *ton* of games. A lot of those left are hardly painful prospects either. I've bought almost nothing this year either, and all the holiday stuff from last christmas, I demolished in a few weeks play (stuff like MGS3 and MP2 is not hard to get through).

I love the battles. If you get the Memorize Zone ability and always hit enemies in the proper order of CB, BC, BB or CC to get the break and occasional stock bonus, battle against powerful enemies are very managable.

I like that you can switch out any characters at any point in battle and they've been created so that no one party could handle all types of enemies. It's kind of like FFX in that if you have the right party battles are easier, but a little more extreme because if you have the wrong party you're completely screwed.
