Not only is this all true, but it's completely understated. JM's in Lousiana; I'm in Los Angeles; Jed's in Washington. We played match after match for 2 hours, and not one trace of lag. None. Not one voice glitch. Not one hiccup. It was like playing a regular two player match at your house, or more appropriately, at an arcade. It was, essentially, perfect. If you have lag, then someone has a shitty connection and should be dropped.Originally Posted by JM
If you know in your gut that you depise all things DOA, then forget this game. If you have any affinity at all for it, then let me put it this way: this game is oh so close to perfect. The character models are simply beautiful, and the animation is so detailed and smooth that nothing else (with the almost exception of Ninja Gaiden) comes close. And those girls -- what can one say? The girls have such a combination of winsome allure and flat out sex appeal, that you can't help but feel like a lecher while playing the game -- this is no small part of what makes the game both comical and fun. The stages are nothing short of mind-blowing, with more interaction, subtle effects, and downright beauty than any game I can think of.
Then there's the gameplay -- no need to rehash dozens of pages of arguments here. You know what it's like, and you either like it or you don't. But here's something that I always knew: DOA's gameplay would make for fabulous online entertainment (notice I didn't say "competition," although that's certainly possible depending on the player). The combination of aesthetics and stylish moves are fun to either watch or play, and the gameplay is so fast you're never waiting too long before jumping in. Couple all that with the non-stop commentary of your friends, and you've got yourself a great time.
The game is simply outstanding. A few more characters (Christie!!!) would have been nice, but for even casual fans with Live, this is a must-purchase.
