Thread: The Passion of the Christ

  1. Did you clowns watch the trailer I posted or what?

You should have. Its like what The Passion of The Christ would have been like if Tarantino had been driving the nails.

"Elohim," which is the Hebrew word used for "God" in the Old Testament is a plural word used to refer to a single entity. I don't care if you don't buy it. It's a freaking fact.

"Adonai," which is the Greek word for "Elohim," found all throughout the New Testament is also a plural word used to describe a singular entity.

    This is also a fact.
Oh yeah, I know all that. I thought the Microsoft example was bad though because I doubt that people who bring up Microsoft in any given thread around here are referring to each and every employee that work for Microsoft. I realize that Christians referring to God are referring to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Didn't mean to insult you.

  3. AH! Well, I'm sorry I jumped the gun and went on the defensive.

I know my example was inadaquate, but it wasn't meant as a litteral interpretation of who and what Goid is. I was just trying to help bbobb along in his understanding of my beliefs.

Sorry, again. And don't worry about the whole "offending me" thing. Chances are, if I'm going to act all snooty, I deserved it.

  4. Neat bit of trivia - during the Passion's crucifixtion scene, the actor, seen onscreen, who drives the nails into Jesus' hands while he's on the cross is....

    Mel Gibson.

Clarifies the point of the movie, eh?

What? I havnt read all of your posts but are you alluding to Mel Gibson hating Jesus or something? Forgive me if Im being dense.

If so it seems a bit "Lex Luthor" like to do sutch an elaborate scheme just to say "H4w! J3sus suxx0rz!"

  6. No...he is saying that a point that Mel is trying to prove is that we ALL are responsible for the Big J being crucified.

As for the violence and gore, I think crucifixion by its very nature is violent and gorey.

  8. Thanks Scourge.

............Oh and Im not a polygamist!

  9. There's so much talk about how graphic and violent this is, I get the feeling that it's not really the blood, but for how long the absolute torture goes on. Sounds like a good hour of the movie is Jesus being brutalized and the whole thing just get's heavy to watch because it never shys away from what's happening. To think it's been condensed too...
    Yeah, that's pretty much it.

I just came back to from it, I thought it was a great film. Even though it's all subtitled and it's two hours long, the movie just zips by quickly. The torture scenes are rough but they really drive the message home.

Did any of you guys who saw it today get bombarded with religious pamphlets? There were a ton of people handing out religious literature.
