I suppose you also believe public opinion was also correct back when Brown v. Bd. of Ed. was decided?

The majority can be wrong, and it's for that reason the government has so many safeguards against its own excesses.

It's not an "us versus them" thing. Your life isn't going to change however this turns out, which is why you're able to be so indifferent to the end result. However, millions of gay people's lives are definitely going to be affected by this, which is why we're not quite so "let's just see how this turns out" about the whole thing.

But if he is a Christian, then it does as, if he does vote that gay people can marry, he is responsible and he is going to hell(according to the bible). As long as he votes according to his Christian beliefs, the outcome is irrelevant, he did his bit.

  5. He can vote however he likes.

My point is that this isn't an issue where his vote should matter or he should even be able to vote.

Which is why the mayor of SF looked at California's law, decided it was unconstitutional, and ignored it.

I don't agree with his political wisdom but I can't disagree with his beliefs.

You have it all wrong. I am held accountable to God for all of my actions. As a Christian, I believe homosexuality is not morally permissable because it is an abomination to God. My purpose, as a Christian is to please and glorify God. As a member of this particular gonvernmental body, it is my belief that I should cast my vote in such a manner that would be pleasing to God. Not casting a vote is unacceptable, as is voting into office those who would seek to grant homosexual's a type of marriage. Therefore, I will seek to vote those into office who will vote in favor of my views, as they are pleasing to God.

However, if my reps lose, I can live with it because I understand how our government works, and at the same time I will not be held accountable for whatever laws or amendments will come from it.

It does effect me. It effects all of us. Even those who are not homosexual.

When did I ever say anything about public opinion being correct or incorrect?

All I said was that whatever the outcome, I'm going to have to live with it. If I do not like the outcome, there are certain steps I can take, but I'm OK with that. You don't seem to be because "YOUR WAY IS RIGHT, DAMNIT!!! IF YOUR SIDE LOSES IT'S BECAUSE OF REDICULOUSLY IMMATURE AND INHUMANE, NOT TO MENTION IMMORAL JERK-OFFS WHO LOVE RACISM, OPPRESSION, AND SEGREGATION!!!"

The majority can be wrong, and it's for that reason the government has so many safeguards against its own excesses.
Sure. But, uh, just in case you weren't aware, it isn't about being right or wrong. It's about being a majority.

So what if I was? Pleasing God is more important than any other motive you might come up with.
