Thread: Anti-Gay Marriage Constitutional Amendments?

  1. I dont think Bush or the Republicans really give a fuck about the morality of gay marriage, them taking this stand against homosexuality is all politics, they are securing their bible belt votes.

Wrong, if you look at the animal population, they have a small percentage of gays as well (that reads real funny..anyhow), so one way or another this is an anamoly of nature, and nature is after all the work of/or God depending on your beliefs, and if your a Christian you follow the words of Christ, he never really mentioned homosexuality.

I have no problem with gays getting married, but oddly enough disagree with them raising kids, I dont think thats cool.
Small? Hell man, there is entire species of lesbian lizards.

Anyways, as a Torontonian, I say let gay people get married. It happened in our city last year, and society hasn't fallen apart. I think our city is better off now.
No, the Taliban would have just killed all the gay people with rocks.

    Big difference.

yeah if he wanted to protect the sanctity of marriage he would take action against the FOX network for all their ridiculous Married to a Midget reality shows.

    From what Ive seen:
    01. Decision in Massachusetts.
    02. Bush says he does not support gay marriages. First mention of amendment.
    03. San Francisco thing explodes 2 weeks ago.
    04. Bush and friends get more serious on constitutional amendment.

See what I mean? it's an escalating situation, an arms race if you will. And I dont wanna see what #05 is. We need to step back from this and focus on things that really need to be worked out. This is all crap.
There is plenty of rational discussion going on. San Fran is being sued all over the place, and judges have decided against issuing temporary injunctions only on the grounds that gay marriage presents no irreversible harm. Which they don't.

Gays are lining up and making demands, and politically I think this is very selfish and stupid of them. Still, it doesn't mean that the government needs to either indulge them or react with total overkill. Lots of whiny college kids like to bitch about Mumia, but that doesn't mean we either have to free him or amend the Constitution to keep him in prison.

San Francisco is totally out of line IMO but Bush isn't content with letting the process work itself out because he can't get any campaign mileage out of that.

  6. I remember Jon Stewart on The Daily Show saying something like "If they legalise Gay Marriage, it DOESN'T mean you'll be forced to marry a man. What are you so afraid of?" in respose to one senator's anti-gay-marriage comments a while ago.

  7. i say ban all gay activity of any sort. yes i know its amarica land of the free. but is should not be land of the gays. just strate people. cause gays make livin hear crap. so get rid of em all

While I don't agree, I think gay parenting definitely raises more concerns than gay marriage.

If you manage to convince me that you're serious, I'll probably throw you out, so just keep making me think you're a poor excuse for a troll.

    Just a tip.

Read a good article about this in the DB yesterday (reprinted from Georgetown's school newspaper). Basically the article asked just that question, and bottom line we dont have enough information on it. The studies done on this matter in the past have mostly been complete shite and not worth the paper they're published on.

But the problem is that nobody gives a shit. Everyone is so wrapped up in this idea of marriage or no-marriage that they dont care about the next logical step of marriage - child-rearing.

    Well there you go.

  10. Also, I should mention this:

Last year, Canada's (until recently) Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, a gay marriage supporter, said "I am a good Catholic man, but my obligation to the public's needs comes before my religious beliefs."

How often do you hear a leader say something like that?
