I prefer Ratchet and Clank to Jak, but they're both fun platformers. I think it's nice to have a consistent platformer come out every year, so by default you have something cool to play.

Plus the name Up Your Arsenal has to be one of the best, if not juvenile, names for a game I've ever seen.

It's a pun, only that the serious meaning is the hard one to catch instead of the "joke". It's not great, but better than the going with a title lacking a double meaning:

Isn't it a little soon for sequels? What happened to two years to build a AAA quality game...

It doesn't matter...if Naughty Dog and Insomniac can do it in one year (as they have shown in the past that they can), then I'm all for it!

My main concern is that the publisher (Sony) is squeezing both of these games, along with Sly 2: Band of Thieves, into a short period of time. I was hoping they'd release Sly 2 in June/July, Jak & Daxter III in September, and Ratchet & Clank 3 in November. Although we don't have release dates for J&D3 or R&C3 yet, it looks like Sly 2 is being penciled in for September. My guess is that J&D3 will follow in October, and R&C3 in November. Sony's own platform games might end up competing with each other.

That said, does anyone else see Nintendo as majorly screwed this fall? What do they have Metroid Prime 2? vs Three AAA quality Sony releases and MS' Halo2?

I think it's going to be a much tougher year for Nintendo--possibly the toughest they've ever faced as far as their involvement in the video game industry is concerned. Hopefully, they'll show off some surprises soon.

I just want to quote this and say they didnt. And no, the "realistic look" Zelda doesn't count because nobody gives a shit about Zelda anymore, especially in the face of Halo 2. Unless Nintendo were to revamp the gameplay of course. Which theyre not gonna do.
