No it's not. If I set out to get an A on a 5th grade math test and I do, I didn't do a damn thing. Maybe you'd understand if I added a "necessarily" in there.
Compared to walking on the moon, this movie is like taking that 5th grade math test.
Yes, but your logic's retarded. Why didn't you say "What's the big deal about making a movie look just like the comic" instead of saying "Just because you set out to do something and then do it successfully doesn't win any points."
That's like not giving medals out to the winners of a race. Or beating a video game and then not getting an ending.

Actually, your logic is way more fucked. The purpose of a movie has never been to recreate another media, so it is nothing like a runner winning a race. I can set out to create a shitty movie with terrible acting but should it be praised because I suceeded in my goals?

Ok I see your point.
But it's not Moon vs. 5th Gd. Math test.
It's Sin City vs Sky Captin & The World of Tomorrow
or
Sin City vs Average Comic Movie
on those scales I think it did well

I agree, but that's what I'm sort of talking about. If you had no interest in anything but comic book adaptations, it'd be super. Otherwise, I think it's just "really good". Hence, I say "overrated" ;p
The thing they aren't paying attention to, though, is that the men aren't any better off than the women in the movie. Both the male and female characters come off as not exactly prime examples of their sex. But within what they are, they try to find ways to make themselves better.Originally Posted by Regus
Women who review the movie should praise it, because it is a great example of a movie where the female characters are on equal footing with the men. Take, for example, the Lord of the Rings: you had a few "strong" females in the story, but they were NEVER on equal footing with the men, were always in the background, and often felt like they were there to give one of the men a love interest.
In Sin City, yes, they were strippers or hookers or whatnot, a lot of them were naked, but they were there on their own and not just to give the men somebody to avenge. Even when the men were fighting for the sake of the women, it wasn't because the women were weak and/or helpless.

I noticed him too, and thought it was a cool tought. QT should have been given a cameo too. Maybe one of the mob thugs in the Big Fat Kill segment.Originally Posted by Regus
