Thread: Crazy Taxi vs Crazy Taxi 2.

  1. I play both regularly, part two is different but I've never understund the complete loathing of it. I did hate the music in part two, if you don't listen close it sounds like the same track remixed over and over, plus Methods of Mayhem is shit. I love the first music track in part 1, fit the mood of the game perfect (quiet down Offspring haters). *-neo

  2. it's worth noting that while CT2 is, i agree worse (for all of the reasons people specified already) i had an absolutely BLAST with crazy pyramid, much more so than with crazy box. then again i probably concentrated on it more, cos with CT1 i didn't want to stop playing the main game.

still, it's worth playing crazy pyramid, mucking about with the levels for a bit, and then shelving. CT3 was better but by the time it came out i was sort of past caring. i should probably give it some more time.

  3. While I'm no fan of The Offspring, the music fit the first game perfectly. The first Crazy Taxi is a great example of how to get an arcade game done right. The second was a letdown and hardly worthy of my gaming time.

  4. For what it's worth, I had a blast with Crazy Taxi 3.

Probably because it was only 15 brand new, and it has all the levels in it and all the riders. I loved it, but I know a ton of people who don't.

    I second that.

  6. In with the "wtf are my taxis jumping" crowd. That was so dumb.

  7. i didnt even know there WAS a 3rd game.

  8. I normally loathe licensed music in games, either because it doesn't fit or because I don't care for most popular music. Crazy Taxi is one of the few exceptions. It's hard to imagine Sega-composed music being better-suited.

  9. Anyone who skipped the third game missed out on the jumptastic version of Crazy Taxi 1, and they have my pity.

  10. Meh

I'm a huge CT fan, and I own every installment to the series. I play at least one version of this game almost every day. So I feel like I can offer my thoughts on the matter.
I agree with what everyone has said so far about the level/city designs in the second game, but I feel that Crazy Taxi 2 had better challenges. For some that might not matter, but the Crazy Box/Pyramid/X modes are always one of the main aspects that keeps me coming back to the series long after I've beat the hell out of the cities.
However I'm really sad that so many of you decided to pass on High Roller. It's the best game in the series. Why? It's actually pretty simple. It has every driver from the past two games and even includes one city from each. Small Apple from CT2, and here's the best part, West Coast from CT1. Replaying the latter with all of the new driving techniques introduced completey change the way that you'' pick up fares here, and the fact that it's in the game alone fixes everything that was wrong with the second game. And you guys just helped prove that.
The new city, Glitter Oasis, rocks as it's modeled after Las Vegas. While it could have a little more style to it, this city proves to be the most challenging of all the cities that have appeared in the series. High fares here are earned for sure.
Finally this games "Crazy Mode", cleverly titled Crazy X is the best of the series too. Yes some of the challenges are borrowed from the other games, but the number of them and the level of challenge is the best.
    Shame on you all.
