The academy seems to have heard my invitation of wrath and given LOTR the best picture award for Return of the King - hehe, or something like that. I think its pretty cool that Jackson and crew swept the awards - they deserved it very fucking much.
Too bad Bill Murrary got burned though... ouch... he looked pissed.

Yeah, it was nice to see Pete and company finally get their props from the Oscars. Though I really think these awards were meant for the entire trilogy more than just ROTK...

Murray should have gotten best actor.
LotR should have won the last 2 years, but not this year.

Definitely. The only award I think they didn't deserve was Adapted Screenplay. How many did they win in the end? 10? The only award I saw them lose (that they were nominated for) was Sound Editing or something like that.
I think Murray did a great job but Penn was excellent too, and he deserved the Oscar. And Penn was the favorite going into it, so I don't see what Murray is so angry about.

Return of the king won everything, they werent nominmanted for sound editing. Or whatever it was that Master and Commander won.
I think Murray would have been even more pissed if Johnny Depp won. When he nodded after Sean Penn won it seemed to me he was thinking to himself "Ok I can accept losing to him, it wasn't Johnny f'n Depp"

you know man, I would've loved to see Johnny Depp win - I think Roger Ebert said "it was an imaginative nomination" - I agree, I'm not too caught up on all this hollywood stuff but I really think Depp made that movie as great as it was, I dont ever get bored of it thanks to him. It would've ruled if he won but everyone knew that was a long shot. The nomination was probably winning enough for him, about time he got props for stuff in general.

Two Towers lost to what? Chicago? What a load of shit. Both FotR and RotK had stiffer competition and were still amazing films, TTT was without peer and it still loses. At least they recognised the Lord of the Rings in some way though.
I also think RotK was the best film ever made so of course it should win.
He's done great in other films and he's beens passed over. Like Leonardi DiCaprio being recognised in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape over Johnny Depp in the same film. Depp has always been an Oscar step-child and just getting nominated is cool beans for him (I guess... I mean it's more award than he's ever had.)
Pirates would not have been as cool a movie without Depp. Bar None.

Penn deserved to win. He did a better job in Mystic River than Murray did in Translation. This isn't an insult to Murray but an ode to how well both men acted in each of their respective movies this year.
Part of me wanted Depp to win so badly. He did an amazing job as Sparrow.
