No.
I suppose. I learned all the Flail moves, and tend to use them situationally. Sure, I still typically X+A->Y(Y) as my "in", since it ends with the drop kick and keeps the enemy stunned so I can start a ground combo (or launcher). I like the flails because there are points in all the combos where you can switch to a new target...once you've sufficiently hit-stunned and enemy, you can switch to another and continue the violence. Once you have several guys stunned, you can switch to the XXX->XXXXY move that creates a shield of 'chuck hits, tagging multiple guys at once, and racking up a huge combo. Unnecessary, I suppose, but being a ninja is half style anyway.Originally Posted by MechDeus
Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I use the countes a lot. Maybe because the Flails don't have a consistent decapitation move.
Random: Playing this a ton, plus having others watching/taking turns has created the need for some new vocabulary.
Ninjoke: The player, when performing like a crappy ninja and getting owned.
Ninjizz: Multiple ninja, and what you're forced to suck, well, when you suck.
Ninjump: A jump only a ninja can perform.
Ninjargon: That stupid shit you read in journals, and that Ayane tosses your way.
Nonja: Lacking in ninja skills such that you're almost a pirate.
Ninjalopy: We don't really have a use for this, but it fits so well. The tank maybe?
Ninjerks: Those bastards that would stick you with exploding shuriken, until you got good and they became fodder.

This is a very single-enemy-at-a-time attack, and you're probably looking for something to be used in combos against multiple opponents, right? Actually, I haven't tried that against the purple demons yet (switched back to the Dragon Sword, it was feeling lonely), but it worked every time against the armored army guys.Maybe because the Flails don't have a consistent decapitation move.
It's a great game but no. I'd actually give reasons but they never make a difference on tnl.
If were living in a parallel universe where Xbox meant NES, then I would be inclined to agree with you.
Just checked: Hitting Y next to the purple guys when they're grounded is an instant decapitation for the Flail.
I gotta say that with its camera problems and unfriendly difficulty to casual gamers. It's not the best game for 'Ninjas'.
It's a great game, but not the best of all time. That award goes to a game that has taken every group of gamers into consideration.
I don't want to have a stroke while playing a game.
Yes.
Actually, make that a fuck yes. The only things I can think of that can compete would be the NES Gaidens and maybe the Strider games (though it's debatable whether the latter is even a Ninja game.) I'd explain why but I think StriderKyo summed it up pretty well...
...and, well, if you're not flipping out and killing people, why even bother calling it a ninja game?Originally Posted by StriderKyo

Every game that we've ever complained about here having camera issues I've never had a problem with at all. Even Ninja Gaiden is fine in my eyes. Either I just don't care or I'm trying to show that we can look aside every technical aspect is irrelevant. It's my favorite ninja game coming 2nd to Ninja Warriors.
for realistic ninja feel, no, tenchu beats it, but for a just kickass action game that gives a number of over-the-top ways to take out enemies, it rocks pretty damn hard. Dante and zeig WISH they had this much style kicking ass.
