Thread: Godfather game in the works

  1. Godfather game in the works

    http://www.gameforms.com/news/?1123

"After achieving success with film adaptations such as The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, EA has its sights set on adapting one of the most beloved films of all-time, The Godfather.

Possibly to keep pace with other recent Mafia-themed video games, EA CFO Warren Jensen mentioned that The Godfather will “likely be an M-rated game.” This stands as a fairly large departure for EA, given the company’s usual hesitation to release games with the ‘mature’ label. Even its war-themed Medal of Honor series has always been tailored for a ‘teen’ rating.

The Internet Movie Database Top 250 lists The Godfather as the greatest movie ever made. The story of the film centers around a young Italian-American man who eventually assumes his father’s former role as head of a Mafia family. If the plot sounds familiar to gamers, it’s because it has been shamelessly lifted from by plenty of games in the recent crime fad.

A release date for The Godfather has yet to be announced. Further coverage of the game will come as EA releases more details."

The film is my personal favorite movie but I can't see myself wanting to play this for more than a few minutes for novelty's sake...

I'm sorry, but that's just funny. There's absolutely no chance of this becoming anything other than M-rated. The very fact that he added "likely" is absurd.

  4. EA-published games are often never M rated these days. I think that's why it was said.

edit: oh, it even says that in the PR ;p

  5. I want a North by Northwest game.
I knew he was a commie, cause he didn't drink [duff] beer.

    A game you can't refuse?

While they're at it, someone make a game based on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. And let it support the Rez vibrator.

  7. I'm not really sure about this, The Godfather really doesn't seem like game material to me. However, if there isn't a Vito Andolini stealth mission through Corleone at the first of this game, I'm going to be pissed.
    Time for a change

  8. First The Great Escape and now this
    Play Guitar Hero //
