There has been a lot of tension between Russia and China since Stalin and Mao had a falling out. In the 60's there was actually open fighting between the Soviet Union and China on the border. The reason Russia helps China is because they're trying to stay on their good side, as they're very afraid of them.
Basically when I said that I was pointing out that their lack of military equipment and technology compared to ours puts them way behind us in military power, lots of infantry doesn't mean what it used to like I said. Now if they had 50,000 T80's and T90's with a bunch of Su-27's and Mig-29's to support them then maybe it would be a different deal.

Yeah, and I'd like to see them get there :P About 50-100 M2 Machine Guns with tons of ammo would solve that problem.

Actually, the number of small arms in China is scary, they confiscated 3.8 million guns between 1998 to 2002. They had a lot of small arms based crimes before that, but now they seem to have that under control.
Damn strait. You can't let people have guns. Humans are evil. The only people that should be able to have guns are those angels that came from the sky that we ellected to public office.

The French have Montaigne (the greatest non-fiction writer ever), good movies, wine, brandy, food, and hot crazy women, to start. The country is beautiful and has about every type of climate you could want. It's America's only competitor in terms of the breadth of goodness it offers its citizens.
The people themselves, particularly now, can be stupid and often worthless, but I think that's a function of how many great things they've surrounded themselves with. It's made them cowardly and lazy, because they're over-satisfied, and have no reason to risk what they've got.
