It's called Type-Ahead Find. It's been around since version 1.2, at least.
Can't live without it, now.
If you start typing in mozilla it automatically searches for the letter on the page, so if you type out a a word chances are when you finish, you will be at the thread or whatever you are looking for.
Did anyone else know this?

Yeah, but it likes to kick in when I go to type in the address bar, which can get a little annoying sometimes.
Hit F7 or some other F-key to disable it.
ah thanks, I hate that feature. It's in firebird as well (not surprisingly).
Doesn't ctrl-f have this feature? I thought I saw my friend doing this on IE or something a while back.
