Thread: World of Warcraft: Beta Begins

  1. It would take a complete overhaul of the game to make it anything other than a standard MMORPG with nice graphics. From what I've experienced playing early beta builds of Ultima Online, EverQuest, Asheron's Call, Anarchy Online and Dark Age of Camelot, MMORPG betas are about balancing skills and damage, fixing bugs and testing server capacity. The core design (the 'heart' of a game) never changes drastically. It might be tweaked, but the underlying fundamentals are always there.

That's not to say WoW is bad at what it does. I'm just burnt out on MMORPG in the same way I was burnt out on fighting games by the mid-1990's. It's going to take a Virtua Fighter 2 to get me interested again.

  2. I was referred to this thread by a friend. There appear to be a few discontent beta testers here.

I am offering $400 via Paypal for a World of Warcraft beta account. Serious/verified sellers only, contact me at paypalwowbeta@hotmail.com.

Feel free to flame away if you want.

  3. Don't mind if I do. You're a piece of shit and I hope you get busted by Blizzard!

  4. why? if your not using it you can sell it. nice way to welcome people asshole. and it was me the referred him. funny somebody else mentioned selling their account in this thread but they didnt get assinine comments. but thats what i should expect from this board.

  5. For one thing, that person didn't say "I'll sell it to you for 400!" He said he gave it to a friend and then heard that people are selling their accounts. Second, sounds like Blizzard doesn't want people to sell their accounts from the Agreement they have up.

Remember, at the outset of these Terms of Service, where we discussed how you were "licensed" the right to use World of Warcraft, and that your license was "limited"? Well, here is one of the more important areas where these license limitations come into effect. Note that Blizzard either owns, or has exclusively licensed, all of the content which appears in World of Warcraft. Therefore, no one has the right to "sell" Blizzard's content, except Blizzard! So Blizzard does not recognize the "sale" of anything related to World of Warcraft. Accordingly, you cannot sell items for "real" money.

Well. It's pretty obvious that this,

Every MMORPG agreement has that same clause, and "ebay" trading still persists in all of them. It is less of a binding agreement than a statement to protect the involved company from being blamed/held liable for outside-transactions gone bad.

Idealism has no home on the internet.

Yeah I agree... but that's TNL for you lately

Though offering to buy it is against Blizzard's beta testing policy, but even just giving the beta to someone else is against the policy as well since they require you're information (whether they got it from you signing up or if they have it on file) and if you hand it off to someone else that is technically against the rules as well.

Personally I don't have anything against people giving them to people who will actually use them myself... I can think of a few beta kits that would've been better off with someone else instead of being used as paperweights or whatever they used them for cause they sure didn't use them for testing

  9. Are people getting hundreds of dollars for their beta accounts? That's freaking retarded. That shit is no where near worth that much.

  10. not worth that much to YOU. people do pay that much, just like people will buy radient silvergun for $150+. whats the fucking difference? just because you dont have one to sell? get over it. you ever seen EQ accounts on ebay? or how about the first jedi slots in Galaxies. get out, get cultured and come back when you know what you're arguing about.
