That is funny because it's true

Either your gym is the most polite gym ever or the 3 times you went were all past 8pm.

  2. There's chain called Planet Fitness that's geared more towards skittish little girly-men. The dumbbells only go up to 60s and grunting is not allowed, to the point that there are buttons on the gym floor that you can press to report someone making any noise while working out.

Here's a news report about a guy who was booted out of a Planet Fitness for grunting.

Despite his claims, I could totally see roid-head there being a dick about the whole thing. Still, to me, grunting, yelling, dropping dumbbells...it's all a part of going to a gym, and I like that atmosphere, personally.

  3. I don't get it, you can't grunt at the gym? I'm not sure I could lift without the proper grunting beforehand and after.

So is sweat and smelly people, yet you have a problem with those. I don't mind grunting and yelling, but dropping weights is annoying as fuck. It's just as rude as leaving sweat all over the equipment. It can also startle someone into dropping weights on himself in the middle of a set.

Sweat and people who smell are plain disgusting. I mean, that's just basic hygiene. It's no different at the gym than anywhere else.

People who grunt or yell here or there are (usually) just doing so because they are putting in 100% effort, which I can respect and at times even find motivational. There's something known as gym etiquette, and if someone can’t understand what is considered acceptable and what is not, they're better off sticking to training with the Joe Weider bench in their basement.

As for dropping dumbbells, I usually don’t do it, but here and there I can understand if you're in an akward spot and can't sit up and place the dumbbells neatly back on the rack. It happens sometimes, but guys that do it every set are retards.

  10. Listening to guys grunt, yell, and drop dumbells always makes me feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of cavemen. I try not to let it bother me though because I figure they must be working pretty hard. Also, hearing a huge set of weights hit the floor always startles me.
