Thread: South Park

  1. That bit about Chipotle was amazing. I could probably do with some Chipotlway

  2. I liked the Chipotle bit, because it was the kids ragging on each other, but the ghost parts pretty well sucked. The Ghost Hunters parody in particular was Saturday Night Live-caliber, where it seems like the writers had something described to them second-hand, and couldn't be bothered to make even that funny.

  3. That's pretty much what those Ghost Hunter shows are like. You can't make it any more ridiculous.

  4. I liked the Ghost Hunters bit too, it was a lot like the sh-WHAT WAS THAT? DID YOU HEAR THAT?

  5. The shit part made me laugh pretty damn hard. "UGH IT SMELLS!"

  6. I've only seen a few espisodes of Ghost Hunters due to my sister being a fan (wouldn't know it existed otherwise) but what I saw was nothing like what South Park portrayed. Yeah, there's a bit of jumping at shadows, but there's also a whole lot of "that's your furnace, here let me fix that for you" as well. The parody didn't come close to anything I've seen of the show (5-6 episodes, maybe) so it came across as stupid instead of funny. If they'd made fun of spooky music, bad camera angles, and the endless ability of the camera to never show what the guys are looking at, it still wouldn't have been funny but at least they'd be ragging on things about the show that are actually there.

Yeah! The whole time I was watching South Park I was like "This episode really needs some furnace repair or sensible discussions about furnaces (hopefully followed by furnace repair) or I'm posting shit about it online!"

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that way.

  9. You should send a writing portfolio to South Park Studios, James. You have excellent ideas.

  10. It's not just South Park! It's way more wide-spread than you might think. I was watching the Eagles game yesterday and I was like "when are they going to do a cutaway to a luxury box where some fan is complaining about being too cold and then someone else suggests they fix the furnace?"

But they NEVER show that shit! Hell, the announcers could at least be like "McNabb is so hot today that I'm going to call him Donovan McFurnace!" or "Wow, Westbrook looked like he got hit by a furnace!"

Ever wonder what the "F" in "NFL" stands for? It sure as hell isn't "furnace", I can tell you that much.
