Not that SCEA would approve them or anything.

There was a time and place for CPS2 and Neo Geo ports and that was with the PSone.

You'd have to get around the UMD format, unless it's possible to run program code from the memory stick.

  4. I just wonder if Nintendo can survive without dominating the portable market...

Could the doomsday clock be ticking?

  5. I think it looks great. Now lets just hope the system isn't ONLY all about re-releasing PS1 games.

  6. The GBA is very successful with rereleasing SNES games. I forsee the same fortune bestowed upon the PSP with PS1 rereleases... *sigh*

A portable version of Parappa the Rapper would make me the happiest man alive. I could use a few PS1 rereleases.

Actually, I'm honestly surprised the first title we're seeing running on the hardware is a brand new title. I had always imagined it'd be an existing game ported to PSP as some sort of demo. Regardless of ports or not, I get the feeling that Sony is going to encourage development of new titles for it, though I wonder how picky they'll be about the titles. If they focused less on killing 2D games and more on screening crap like the last Tomb Raider game, 3D or not, I'd be a lot happier about the way they do things. Bleh.

E3 is too far away. This has me really excited for more PSP info.

The next generation of consoles (hopefully) will make you say "Wow, I've never seen anything like this before." At best, the PSP will make you say "Wow, I've never seen anything like this since I played my N64."
The point is... this is a portable. People don't stop buying GBAs because the graphics don't impress, comparing it to the next generation of home consoles is stupid.
