Thread: Far Cry: Postcards from Paradise

  1. Far Cry: Postcards from Paradise

Been sneaking around in the dark all morning, infiltrating some sort of air regulator facility in the jungle. Here's what I saw...

My system: P4 2GHz, 512mb RAM, GeForce FX 5950 Ultra. Playing with all settings on very high, except water on ultra high... no anti-aliasing, and bilinear filtering instead of trilinear filtering.

    1. Sunsets and hardware go hand in hand. Check out the awesome shading in this pic.

    2. Darkness descends. Here I spy on my enemies and plan out an attack. Notice how your binoculars will "lock-on" to mercs and then paint them on your radar.

    3. A couple more views of the installation. The ambience and lighting on this level kicks ass.

    4. It was a real pain in the ass to get inside, but once I was in, my secret admirer told me what to do.

    5. More gorgeous outdoor night shots...

    6. Forced my way into a garage and hopped into the first vehicle I found. Check out the awesome lightsourcing and shadows in this room.

    and again, great real-time shadows...

this pic below gives a good sense of scale for some of the huge indoor areas...

    7. More ambient indoor lighting. Really does the Doom thing well. Second pic shows usage of flashlight in low-lit areas...

    8. Came out onto a circular shaft area with spinning shadows and the works... shot a bunch of guys. Fun with ragdolls below.

    9. You love it.

  2. Very nice shots, i've been playing around with this game alot myself lately. The game is so gorgeous that it is just fun to run around and look at stuff.

    Ditto.

This game looks really cool. I'd love to give it a go.
    A is for action

  5. Far Cry is the best game released for the PC in a really long time. It's about fucking time I saw a Far Cry thread on the front page.

  6. This guy has to work for Crytek or something. The other Far Cry thread was full of well written posts on the happenings in the Far Cry game he did. Well... I'm sold.

I've already pledged my first paycheck of the summer to splurdge on this game.

  8. Speaking of which, I'll get this game the instant it hits the big green because my computer is unable to run it decently.

    Or XBN.

Maybe Crytek just made an fucking awesome game which they did.
    o_O

  10. As good as the game looks in these screens, I'm not even pushing the game to its limits. Mostly because my machine is kinda outdated.

I'm getting really good framerates with these settings, which is surprising since I've only got a P4 2GHz with 512mb RAM and a GeForce FX 5950 Ultra.

Someone told me to try playing with anti-aliasing on. I'll go do that now.
