You know, I have no idea how football supplanted baseball as America's sport. I love football, but baseball is the greatest sport in the world.

Worldwide sporting event, soccer doesn't count.
Baseball outside of Latin America, US, a few Canadian places and Japan = 'Basewhat?'
Sports with playoffs will, at their best, always be better than sports that determine who moves on using a single game. Too many random things happen in a sport for a single game to take on the definitiveness that a 7 game playoff series has. Plus, soccer has ties.
I know there are a lot of foreigners who think that Bosnia's gutsy 1-1 tie against Austria in the 1985 football LCS is the greatest sports match in the last 20 years, but they are all idiots.
You don't even have to bring Football into this, which you know little about.
In hindsight, I'd say that Lance Armstrong alone is on par or greater than this series.
go sox!
This is my most anticipated sporting event since Game 7 of the 1986 World Series. It's just higher than Game 6 of the 1999 NLCS.Originally Posted by diffusionx

Lance Armstrong is a great human interest story, but no one really cares about cycling.Originally Posted by MVS
