Was prove to be an act on a national stage. Because your fans were revealed to be sore losers with no faith, your crown jewel, A-rod, was revealed as a cheater, your team which always got away with the "I didn't do it" snvieling little bully line, was revealed to everyone that it has always been this way for a long, long, time.
Your the bad guys. You always have been. Just in New York and Japan are you the good guys. Everyone hates the Yankee's because they do everything wrong, and that is evil in baseball.
For the record, Joe Torre, and Jeter are class guys though. I like em. I want em on my team. And I only mention it because I am not as one-sided as you may seem, at least not about players.
But you can mark my words, the biggest mistake of this series was Sheffield opening his big fat mouth.
I hope so. Thats the sign of the true fan.I guess no one likes a team that always wins. Hell, in every other sport, once my team is gone I am there by the underdog. I almost feel cheated that I can't feel good about this awesome series. It's too humiliating. I've been a Yankee fan all my life, and I don't feel jaded on winning. Every year we lose the World Series is a huge disappointment, and I don't see anything wrong with wanting to win and winning every year. The payroll deal makes me feel a little abashed every now and then, but I'm not some frontrunner, or some guy who grew up in LA and fell in love with the history of the Yankees and went bozo. I was born into this and I took being a fan seriously, and even if someday they start a losing streak like Boston I'll be there wearing the pinstripes.
I've been a Boston fan all my life. If they go on a Yankee's winning streak, I'll still be a Boston fan. You as a Yankee's fan have never know a true defeat. You've lost games, you never lost games anywhere close to the monumental losses the Boston Red Sox have put up with for 85 years.
Now you as a Yankee's fan know what it was like to get roped into a Red Sox team, and watch us get trampled on after making improbable comebacks, only to have a ball go through the legs, Bucky Dent hit a homerun, the biggest umpring travesty in all of baseball (the 99 ALCS), our manager have a meltdown and not pull Pedro and put in one of the three guys with a ZERO era.
Now you know because your team has now lost in the worst way a team could ever possibly lose. You've topped us, and i hope just like you topped is in wins all these years, now you its time for you to top us in losses.
The bitterness has subsided a little, so I can say this with sincerity: Good luck in the World Series. I can't imagine the Devils losing for my entire lifetime, my life would feel like an utter waste. So good luck and I hope you guys win. My first time being called a cunt in 20 years of living.I'll still be pissed if Derek Lowe's autobiography comes out in under 10 months though. That'd just a testament to our awesome fucking society. I also can't wait to see "Martha Stewart's Prison Memoirs, Mothering the Socially Challenged," hit bookshelves.
Good luck next year as well. I hope George builds you guys an actual team this time, and not just the most expensive individuals he can find.

Thanks, I think they're awesome too. Two bastions of goodness amdist one of the worst Yankee teams, IMO, of my life. There's so little character to our team this year, and I have a little more to say about this in a second...Originally Posted by youandwhosearmy
I have Derek Jeter's rookie autograph. I was trying to get Paul O'Neil to sign my little Mickey Mouse autograph book souveneir from Disneyworld, but he passed right by me and Jeter signed it instead.
Mom-"Did you get it?"
Me- "No, I only got some stupid guy's signature."
Mom- "Oh? Who?"
Me- "Derek stinky Jeter."
Ugh. I wouldn't even be that upset if we didn't lose so spectacularly. So humiliating.Originally Posted by youandwhosearmy
Me too. I've said it before but I'm primarily a hockey fan, and while I don't despise the Rangers I think they're f'n stupid for going out there every year ad buying all the most expensive players only to end up with a shitty shitty team. Watching Sather guarantee the playoffs only to have them miss at the end of the season was just classic. The Yankees used to put thought and care in their buying and drafting and raising of players though. They had teams. This year was not really a team like many other years, and I could sense the doomed NYRanger pattern from early on in the season. ARod didn't help. Steinbrenner has to not do what the Rangers do. We are Yankee/Nets/Devils. We're better than that. Well, maybe not the Nets. They never really had a shot at the championship. <sigh>Originally Posted by youandwhosearmy
More important to me now is the Ottowa Senators' losing streak.
And most important is that I don't become a foul person or start hating good people because of sports entertainment and rivalry.

I am incredulously realizing that last night was not, in fact, a dream and that I did, in fact, hear Joe Morgan on ESPN radio say, "That's it. The Red Sox are going to the World Series."
The Red Sox beat the Yankees. In-fucking-credible. Nickelodeon's poll of kids for President picked Kerry and they've been right for the past four elections. This truly is a year of awesomeness.
GO 'STROS! GO SOX!
The curse of the Bambino will end this year as well as the 20 yr curse.
Sweetness! Go Boston!

This is from a Mets fan: it was YOUR team's series to lose. Stottlemyre (he's the pitching coach, right?) didn't see Rivera throwing strangely in game 4. Christ, I'm not even a Yankee fan and I could see his arm pulling out of the 3/4 swing on television. There should have been someone warming up to relieve him. As soon as a few of his cutters went high and too far in, I said that they should take him out and then the impossible occurred. I understand faith in your guy, but that can only go so far. Francona put Pedro in, Pedro messed it up a bit, so he took him out for Timlin. But, regardless, there was no reason they should have lost game 5. When they lost game 5, that was it. Look at the offense in those last two games. Dismal. Absolutely dismal.Originally Posted by Cowutopia

The Red Sox have to win the World Series to fully take this year by storm. There are no such things as curses, just poor performance.
And yes, what A-Rod did was pretty bad. I'm very glad the umps called that and the homerun earlier in the game correctly.
'98 Yanks were really a class act. The '02 Angels reminded me verily of them. The '01 through current Yankees are just some team, really. A pretty dominant team, but they don't feel like the Yankees.Originally Posted by Cowutopia
Dude, there is such a thing as a curse.
If you don't believe in the superstitious aspect of it, you still can't deny the mental effect it has over players and the fans supporting them.

I still fucking hate Jeter, He knows how to win. But he's such a cocky prick. Mariano Rivera and Joe Torre are the only worthwhile Yankees.
I wonder if Nike had this shit ready to go last year too: http://www.nike.com/usa/justdoit/v2/index.jhtml
