Despite how forgettable the Mets have been lately let's not forget that 50% of New York hates the Yankees as much as Boston does.

It is a shame that much, much less than 50% of the NYC baseball-watching public are Mets fans. Expecially now that they suck.

But even in 1999 and 2000, it was a 70-30 split at best.

During the game, Yankees fans were swinging around pictures of Babe Ruth and 1918 and saying "The Curse Will Go On" and Bucky Dent threw out the first ball, for heaven's sake. Now it's all over, like burg said. There is no curse, there is nothing. Except for The Comeback, and The Choke. The Yankees are just another team. No more magic, no more amazing breaks that always go there way. Like Lucchino said, all empires fall sooner or later. Yesterday was the Yankees.

Thanks, I think they're awesome too. Two bastions of goodness amdist one of the worst Yankee teams, IMO, of my life. There's so little character to our team this year, and I have a little more to say about this in a second...

IBTN. I haven't especially liked a Yankee team since O'Neil left. I still want them to win every year, but it's just not the same when they're not a team, but more a bunch of individuals. 98 (and to some extent, 96) were the pinnacle of sports teams for me. That in no way makes this loss sting any less, but I can be happy in knowing that some of the assholes on the Yankees will not be on the team next year. I've had my being a Yankee fan questioned far too much today because I've said just that to the mindless fucking Yankee fans around the city, and for the first time, I think I'm starting to understand the hatred for Yankee fans.

Regardless, I hope the Yanks have a team next year and win the WS.... I just hope Steinbrenner sells the team soon. God I hate that man.
