Thread: Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne - Official Thread

  1. Strange Journey is bleak. Not awesome bleak like Nocturne; Bad bleak. It's a very long game consisting of nothing but dungeon crawling in low-budget environments. I don't even think the soundtrack has more than six songs.

    On the other hand, the dungeon crawling is pretty well-done so I guess I just need a little extra before I'm happy. PS3/Zboz/PC (sigh) sequel pls.

    I like Devil Survivor a bunch.

    I like that about it though.

  4. I got to the bottom of the Amala Labyrinth with all those mouth doors, but I'm not strong enough to open any of them but one. I'm not sure if I really feel like grinding gems to pump up my demons, but I hate leaving that part unfinished.

    The only of these games I've tried was the first PS Persona game for like a hot minute. Oh and Devil Summoner for a TNL review but god I hated every second of it.

    Where should I start? PSP Persona 3? PS2 Persona 3 or 4? Back to that PS game?

  6. My favorite are SMT: Nocturne and Persona 3 FES. Persona 4 has a better battle system and much better voice acting than P3 but The Big Mystery doesn't have much of a payoff.

    The PSP version of P3 might be better than the PS2 one. I'd know for sure if I felt like buying the same game for a third time.

  7. Yeah, go with the PSP Persona 3 if you want to get a good taste of SMT games.

    Sounds great, I looooove my PSP! Being portable greatly increases the chances of me beating an RPG.

  9. Yeah, P3P has the benefit of the work they did with P4's battle system, and improvements on the story from P3 on the PS2.
