Thread: Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne - Official Thread

  1. Its official its been delayed to the 12th of October, but don't worry its the last delay and in about a week and a half you shall finally get the chance to play the glory that is Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne We're so close after waiting since Nocturne came out in Japan so long ago (feels like yesterday) so keep the SMT N passion alive!

    P.S. Xplay gave the game a 5/5 w00t
"I, Philemon, and Nyarlathotep are the source of people's Selves--the personification of the Collective Unconsciousness; an existence that is inseparable, like two sides of a coin. We have always been watching the lives of humans. I lead those with strong hearts, and the Crawling Chaos seduces the weak to the Underworld.

Good. Extra time means more time to save money for it. I'm quite interested.
...though, someone answering marwan's questions could influence my decision on purchase.
    Any preorder bonuses?

  3. first edition has a soundtrack cd included.

This actually irks me to no end. I live 50+ miles away from the nearest game store, and had planned a trip for next week. Ah well.

While that's cool because a number of people will see it, I just have to say that I can't stand those two jackasses. Meh.

Link? Neither EB or Gamestop says anything like that.

And for some reason, Gamestop says it's coming on 10/5...

  7. Set in post-apocalyptic Tokyo, Japan where nearly the entire population of the world is annihilated by a worldwide catastrophe called the Conception. Now the fate of the entire world now lies on the shoulders of one boy, who must battle his way through opposing demonic forces and shape the world to come... or destroy it. Enter to win. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, is based on the special edition "director's cut" version of the game that was released in Japan earlier this year, which features an appearance from one of videogaming's most popular characters, Dante, from Capcom's Devil May Cry series.

I think for intro's like that.. they substitute the names and add like one line "THe world rests on the shoulder's of one boy"

Here , straight from the horse's mouth. A thread on that board also confirms the delay.

The only problem is that I used that EB trade in deal and don't have any extra cash at the moment, so I'm stuck. :/

it's not a preorder deal or anything. it's included inside the box of all first editions. not sure if it'll be included in later pressings.

+Content wise, it's massive. Imagine a softcover version of WD's Lunar guides, but with a hell of a lot more info packed into each page.

+It tries to explain everything. The beginning of the book goes so far as to explain changes between the JPN/USA game release, while the end has the forum questions interview, the history of SMT, and full page character profiles. I haven't found any of that stupid "????" shit that other publishers try to pull.

+Two full artwork tear-off bookmarks inside the front cover.

+So much instructional info that the walkthrough doesn't begin 'til page 95. (387 pgs total)

-I know this is more of the japanese standard size, but this is one of those guides you will have trouble keeping open without both hands. The book itself is literally the size of 1.5 DVDs, stacked (or the exact same size as the IGN/Gamespy E3 DVD set). Because of the density, it's basically impossible to completely open a page without breaking the spine.

(To be honest, I'd love more guides to be this form factor, but only if they pack the same amount of info and keep the small typeface. A small book is useless if it's filled with Prima 18pt arial.)

-The art foldout in the middle is nice but really could have just been shrunk down and placed in the (already large) artwork section.

-Although fairly packaged, it still came out of the envelope looking fairly roughed up - sort of like if it was at the front of an EB display. (Okay, that's me being picky)

Overall: (Capcom Groove) S rank. I haven't seen a guide outside of Japan with this sort of depth. Easily worth the $20 if you're buying the game or if you just have some interest in how complex RPGs work. It also overrides any reason for me to ever check Gamefaqs on this game instead.
    iawtp.

best strategy guide i've ever seen (wonderful art, too,) and it's in stores now.
