I think women are inherently looking for older guys and older guys are constantly screwed, or ignored by women their age, its really a retarded thing but I've definiately noticed it in my little group of friends.

It all deals with the subconcious ideas of rearing children. Take any caucasian baby and look at its hair, every single one of them starts off with blond hair no matter what it changes to over the next few years. Implanted in the male mind is that blond hair = young which in turn = fertile. Older women are less attractive to us because they would not be as good a recepticle for producing offspring. This works both ways as evidenced by females, as therefore dark hair = older which in turn = better caretaker for the children.

Hence a lot of young females who have no problem with older guys and older guys who have no problems with younger females. This of course does not actually work in practice but does tell a lot in regards to how a lot of people delude themselves in such a way. Gotta love that subconcious, huh?

I think it's supposed to be some sort of moral issue. People have said they'd just feel wrong if the girl was young, so it might not have a lot to do with legal barriers.

Anyway, here's the actual criminal code for Canada's age of consent.

"The Criminal Code does not now criminalize consensual sexual activity with or between persons 14 or over, unless it takes place in a relationship of trust or dependency, in which case sexual activity with persons over 14 but under 18 can constitute an offence, notwithstanding their consent. Even consensual activity with those under 14 but over 12 may not be an offence if the accused is under 16 and less than two years older than the complainant.
