It dosen't help that Jhonen Vasquez, the show's creator, was so disgusted with the way Nickelodeon handled his property that he's pretty much given up on animated stuff altogether. and I highly highly doubt he'd go back to Zim.

And about Home Movies, what happened? Didn't CN already order a brand new season, and they just got done airing it? I mean, I loved the show, but if the first run of eps didn't do good, then CN got some more eps and those STILL didn't do good, then I can see why they'd do this.

I'd rather the show end on a high note anyways than them dragging it out to the point of unfunniness.

Home Movies is a show I never saw getting stale, since it has been written and directed by the same two people for at least as long as I've been watching it (about two seasons). They know what they like, they know what their audience likes, and they do it over and over and it never gets old...what a fantastic show. (On the other hand, some people are really offended and disgusted by it right off the bat, I don't know.)

And as for the last episode, for a show that shouldn't have been cancelled, it's as cynical, humorous, and devastating as it should've been. Great job.

  3. Home movies was a horrible show

most boring thing on Adult Swim, and didn't fit in with the rest of the lineup

Home Movies requires a certain sense of humor to be enjoyed. It can be extremely funny at times. Dr Katz was much better though. If Adult Swim ever gets Dr Katz, that would prompt me to get cable again.

    Agreed.

And squigglevision only helped the show, imo. Taking it out was a bad move, I found I couldn't get into it as much as I could before. No real reason why, it's just true for me.

Home Movies was the BEST show on Adult Swim. There is so much crap left on Adult Swim now it's starting to look like it's not even worth watching on Sundays. I get tired of Sealab and ATHF repeats that I've seen a million times, SGC2C is still good, but the rest is.... ugh. Why are they promoting Harvey Birdman so much? And why do they still have Oblongs on!?! And why are they bringing back Baby Blues

Home Movies was a fantastic show that shouldn't have been canceled.... At least it went out with a fantastic final episode.

I'll give you that one. If there is a show worse than home movies it's definatly Baby Blues.

  8. Well, to be fair, they really weren't obligated to make any new episodes in the first place. For a show that got cancelled 5 years ago to be resurrected at all was a minor miracle. Just view the CN-backed eps as a big bonus.

  9. Home Movies sucks dick. Good ridance! Maybe we'll get a show that's actually worth something in it's vacated time slot.

Next up for the cut: The Oblongs.

I entirely agree on both counts. They were making it because they enjoyed doing so. It was heartfelt. Even if it was getting low ratings, CN should've ordered more simply because of its quality. It's almost immoral to take this off in place of more soulless one-dimensional joke/pun machines. Besides, I hear it’s extremely cheap to produce (done mostly in flash).

McShig’s got a point though. Without CN I would’ve never seen the show. Even so, I’m giving this a shot. If it was a different show that may very well pan out to mediocrity, perhaps I'd feel it less worth the effort. Again, what Sqoon said.
