Today Namco unveiled more details to Death by Degrees, an all-new action title based around Nina Williams, one of the popular characters from the critically acclaimed Tekken series. An official date still hasn't been set, although we're told to keep our eyes out for it sometime during the latter part of the year.

In Death by Degrees, Nina is issued two mission objectives: investigate the whereabouts of a stolen high-tech weapon. Secondly, she must infiltrate a shadowy organization and reveal a conspiracy global threat and intervene at all costs.

“We are pleased to announce Death by Degrees,” said Rod Nakamoto, Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Namco Hometek Inc. “We took one of gamers’ favorite TEKKEN characters out of the confines of the fighting ring and gave her character the depth and incredible fighting agility you would expect of a sexy former assassin.”

Death by Degrees can be likened somewhat to Jet Li Rise to Honor, combining a unique mixture of combat and adventure. The press release notes players can expect an "intriguing storyline with challenging scenarios, recognizable characters and interesting character development."

In other words, players will be treated to an intuitive control system offering a variety of attacks from all directions using both analog sticks. You'll also be able to use an on-screen "X-Ray scan", used to target the weak points of an enemy's body such as bones and internal organs to inflict massive damage. You'll also be able to use a variety of Nina's trademark Tekken moves and sneak to evade enemies and dispatch them in a slight semblance to the espionage nuances seen in other stealth/espionage games.

So far, Death by Degrees sounds like it could be a hit for PS2. Stay tuned for more details and first-impressions during E3.
