How do I feel?
I'd be lying if I didn't admit TNL didn't feel like a second home to me (virtually speaking). As one of the original architects of the site, looking back on our past to where we are now, I am definitely proud of what the site has achieved and appreciative of the exceptional readership we've maintained.
Growth is the most applicable word to sum up my overall perception of TNL. The essence of our name holds a lot of meaning than something that distinguishes us from the fifty thousand other fansites in existence. To me, it embellishes the state of moving forward and the bottom line is - TNL still has so much more potential to be greater than what it is now. The content, the forums, the staff, everything. Right now, things certainly aren't perfect, but I wake up the next day with my browser pointed here and I see people logged in - conversing, interacting...(trolling), and I am pleased to see that we've developed something great.
Further down the line, should TNL eventually pick up advertising to help with the server costs which Nick diligenty pays out of his own pocket, I'd love to see the community as a whole doing their share to help out wherever they can. For right now, reading our content, and contributing any input whenever you can, whether its in Feedback, Headlines (or in private via the email channels provided above), all of these are factors in making the site better.
Doing your share ensures that our namesake is not in vain.![]()
I used to feel that way, until I discovered that, no matter how much you want people to get along, they won't. They'll also bicker and squabble, be petty, and use lame angles of attack to try to be impressive to a group of people who aren't really here to be impressed, anyway.Originally Posted by Nick
For what it's worth, the best people to talk games with are here. But likewise, so many are so zealous in their opinions and beliefs and just so damn sure that they are 'right' and you are 'wrong' that it can cause some of the most frustrating conversations, to boot.
That is, until you discover you can alway close the browser.
