Thread: Best remake?

  1. I haven't been able to play Twin Snakes or Zero Mission so I won't say anything about them (although I'm sure I'll love 'em).

    REmake gets my vote for the best. Even after I'd played the original about a dozen times I wanted to go back a replay this a few more times. They changed and added just enough to make it basically the same and a totally new experience all in one.

    Honorable mentions go to:
    Double Dragon (gba) - I love all the new moves they added in and it looks better than the original without getting too crazy *coughgoldenaxecough*

    Dragon Warrior 3 (gbc) - The story was retranslated to make more sense and they added in a few cool little things to keep it interesting,.

Skies of Arcadia on GC had the same graphics, the same gameplay, the same music, the same areas, and merely added a couple touches here and there while still being obviously the original code in every way.

    Note: By original code I'm referring to that in a general sense, I realize changes have to be made in order for it to run on other systems.

    Metal Gear Solid was on the PS. It was completely remade by Silicon Knights as MGS:TTS on the GameCube. Resident Evil was remade by Capcom for the GameCube.

    Sega took an existing game, Skies of Arcadia, modified a few things and then ported it to the GameCube.

    This is a good call... I was really impressed with this version of the game. Not sure it's a remake technically, but it was good whatever you want to consider it.

    As has been pointed out before, those are ports you hate, not remakes. And they're for the benefit of those who never owned the system the original games were for... judging by sales, quite a few people with GBAs never had an SNES, and no one ever but us had a Dreamcast.

    If you can't see and feel the difference from RE to REmake, from MGS to TS, and from Metroid to Zero Mission (and think they're well worth the money (which they are)), then die.
