Thread: Dead Body Stories

  1. Dead Body Stories

Back in early 2001, I still lived in Hollywood. I'm not talkative and apart from a 'hey', I don't talk to my neighbors. I did talk to my apartment manager, Christian, a lot, he was a wannabe actor type (they all are in hollywood), but he played a lot of games as well.

So, one day I come home and get to my door and I see Christian at the door ot the next apartment. He's knocking on the door and I ask him what's up, because he has this look on his face. He says "I'm not sure", so I walk over to him because this seems very odd.

He opens the door with his keys, and cracks it a bit as he says "Joel? Joel? Joel?" over and over. I'm standing beside him as he looks inside. He then turns around, looks at me, then looks back in the room and says nothing.

"Matt. Look in here. Does that guy look dead to you?" I'm no expert on dead bodies, mind you, I've seen exactly 0, so of course I look. There on the bed is this dude, and I'd seen him a few times. He's in his 50's or so, something like 260 pounds, lying on his bed with his feet on the floor and his arms out at his sides.

And, oh yeah, he's completely ass naked.

"Yeah, dude looks dead to me." Christian keeps yelling "Joel", and no reply. So, he wants to go in there and really make sure he's dead and not just passed the fuck out. Of course, he asks me to go in there with him and since I'd never seen a body before, I say sure.

We get over to the guy and it's pretty clear he's not alive. He's quite large and has this fat, pale, hairy belly, which isn't moving like he's breathing. His eyes are completely black and looked like marbles. The room is cold and the AC is blasting with the windows closed. He almost looked fake, like a more bloated and pale manniquen of himself. It was odd.

Enough for me and I leave, see the coronor wheel out his body a few hours later and then talk to Christian.

This guy was dead for 3 days, they think, and it was only the AC that kept the stink away. Apparently the dude was a promenient Assitant Director, Joel Chernoff (he's on IMDB), who had fallen on hard times. His family called Christian and said he was 'in a bad way' and they hadn't heard from him in 3 days.

I ask 'If this dude was so big into movies and did all these things, how did he end up alone in a shithole like this'?

"He made 1 million dollars a year."

    "Yeah?"

"He spent 1.2 million dollars a year."

    Bummer.

  2. I've seen this kid's dead body at a funeral as well as my friend's who passed away a year or two ago. I still don't know exactly what he died from to this day and it kind of bugs me. Anyway since they are more fixed up and in a casket they look more like they're sleeping which still looks odd since they don't 'look' dead even though they are.

I was bummed for sure. Not really a story per se but that's the extent of me seeing any real life dead person(s).

  3. Dead bodies dead bodies in the back of my van.
All the little kiddies love the dead body man.
I drive through the neighborhood ringin my bell.
some people run cuz the dont like the smell.
Others line up just as kwik as they can.
Just so they can catch a glimpse at the dead body man.

  4. MVS: I think you told that story before. Or someone else did.

Not my story, but my cousin (now age 23) was helping out with a cub scout troop in a woods we always played in near his house a good five or so years ago. He noticed an odd pile of blanket and such, but when he looked closer, he realized it was in fact a dead infant. Not only was he pretty shaken up, but he had to deal with the police when they arrived as well as a troop of curious scouts.

  5. The lack of "I see dead people" in this thread sickens me.

  6. It's young yet, give it time. Also, the only dead body I've seen was my grandmother's after she passed away.

  7. In the 7-story building I work in (my company's on 4, 5 and 7) there's an atrium that runs through the middle of it. On the second floor there used to be a methadone clinic, so we had all sorts of weirdos coming in and out of the building. One day I hear a scream out in the hall. I go out and I see this girl I know totally freaking out. Turns out that one of the guys from the clinic on 2 went up to the 7th floor, climbed over the railing, and jumped all the way down to the lobby. The reason the girl on on floor (4) screamed is that she was just standing there and suddenly this guy bounced off the ledge right in front of her face.

Anyway, naturally curious, I went down to the lobby. The guy had landed on one of the fake bamboo trees. Surprisingly, there was very little blood at all. He was a fairly young looking guy, in jeans and a leather jacket. They covered him up and called the cops, who arrived shortly and surrounded him with police tape. However, they weren't allowed to move him until the coroner arrived to officially pronounce him dead. The coroner didn't arrive for several hours, so this junkie's dead body just sat there in the lobby as people made their way arround it. His foot and hand were sticking out from underneith the sheet they had over him.

And, of course, I've also been to numerous wakes for friends and family members, but who hasn't?

Here at TNL, we like to laugh at jokes.

  10. Aside from funerals, I once saw a an ambulance picking up a dead guy from the middle of the streets when I was a kid (he had an arm cut off and everything). I was just passing it and I was the only one in the car to even notice it. He might not had been dead at all, but he was still pretty bloodied.
