Thread: X-Men 3: News and info thread

  1. I don't care about Nightcrawler, but he did give us one of the best scenes in X2 (the opening with him teleporting around). Why did they hand this to Fox? Fox is going to ruin it. To be honest I'm surprised they haven't already ruined it.

What did they butcher with Wolverine?

While the first movie wasn't that action packed or anything, I always thought that they remained pretty close to the source material with regards to the characters and relationships as well as the powers. X2 built on that and added more with a better budget and a better range of characters to put into it.

It sucks they took out Nightcrawler. Alan was great, I guess since Beast is in they'll do a character swap since they are too similar physically.

    *sigh*

No good news other than the teaser poster and some good casting.

  3. They're saying that Cumming may have a small role to help explain his character's absence.

Well the 2 biggest ones are that Wolvie didn't know who either Sabertooth or Lady Deathstrike were. I mean, get fucking real. They are 2 HUGE characters from Wolverine's past and he doesn't even know them? That is piss poor and they could never truly get into any of his past without them. So now we are stuck with whatever horseshit that they make up for the movies.

  5. So they lost some geeky hogwash that nobody cares about in order to help the movies along a lot better. Sounds like a good thing to me.

Well the comics were just as bad with the Weapon X memory implants which the movies seem to going with as far as explaining Wolverine's past memories being erased.

In a solo Wolverine movie they could easily tie in why he doesn't remember them and have his past done in flashbacks featuring both characters at certain points. It could explain stuff like the Sabertooth/Wolverine familiarity which was seemingly hinted at when Sabertooth took Wolverine's dog tags and some past relationship with Wolverine and Yuriko Oyama (Lady Deathstrike).

I'm glade they took his ass out for some reason. I mean Nightcrawler is supposed to be a monk anyway.

Wolveriene's character is the only one that they didn't screw up.

Exactly. Wolvie's relationship with Sabertooth and Lady Deathstrike doesn't mean shit as far as his character goes. Comics have years and years to build up storylines and relationships...a movie has 2 hours. Some shit has to go, deal with it.

The important part is that Hugh Jackman pretty much embodies the look and attitude of Logan perfectly and that's all that counts. Also, he manages to somehow pull off Wolvie's exact hairdo from the comics without looking like a retard. That's amazing.

I really feel the X-Men movies really convey the feel and spirit of the comics. At their heart, the comics weren't just about action, they were about social issues, the X-Men (and mutants in general) being outcasts from society, and their relationships with one another, and I think Bryan Singer totally understood that.

If you can remember, Sabertooths father was a member of this society/clan that despised mutants. They all dressed in brown "hooded" clothing resembling the KKK. I agree that the xmen story is very deep but when it comes time for a movie it's hard to get all of the themes through that are in the comics/tv series.

I think you're confusing Sabertooth with Graydon Creed who was the son of Sabertooth and Mystique's and joined the Friends of Humanity (or FOH) who were the equivalent of the KKK with regards to mutants.

    Yeah.

I'd like to see more of this though such as a mutant with freakish features being taunted and discriminated against on the street. The first two films felt more like isolated incidents with minimal actual societal confrontations aside from Logan in the bar and Stryker and his commando team against the X-Men.
