Mystery solved, I actually thought the ending was pretty clever all in all.

  3. Logically, Magneto should have just dropped the bridge onto the building on Alcatraz.

  4. logically they wouldn't have flown the golden gate bridge to attack alcatraz... i guess it makes blockbuster movie goers happy, but come on...

actually let's not go down the logic road.

also you can thank x-men 2 for x-men 3's earnings, the question is, will x-men 4 do as well?
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

Those were the good X-Years. None of that confusing crap that came along with the more recent titles. I might whip that out tomorrow and read it.

  6. Well, we saw it today, and came out rather dissapointed.

Most of the movie ended up being blah. Action, storyline, characters, aside from the few established in the previous films. Only new character worth a damn was Beast, who was great.

Juggs was a fucking joke. But I loved the use of infamous line and BOINK he made when he hit the wall.

New evil mutans were trash, picked up just because there were no other ones to use. Pyro still lame ass as ever as well. At least everyone did get wiped out by Phoenix.

Angel was another throwaway character who was in there to fly over pretty scenery and save his daddy to show off that his mutan existant had a purpose. Oh, Rogue is human now, what a waste as well. Or wasted Mystiq.

Last action sequence was staged pretty badly, starting with the flying bridge, sudden day to night change, lets throw cars at the building moment (especially with all cars magically back on the brige in the next scene), etc. Say what you want, but X2 had much better staged action scenes.

And tell me just one thing: WHY THE FUCK Magneto WAS NOT IN THE FUCKING JAIL at the end? I just dont belive they would let him go even if he lost his evil mutant powers, after all the crimes he committed against humanity. Just bullshit.

By the way, anyone wanting to catch up on X-men comics should check this out:

40 years of comics on a DVD rom, in Acrobat (bleh) format. My girlfriend picked it up (she's a huge X-Men freak.) I can't speak for how good it is, since she hasn't opened it yet and I don't want to open her software for her. Oddly, it was picked up at OfficeMax. But, it beats trying to collect comics.

  8. Good find! I might have to order that!

  9. Saw it Friday night.

Overall, it was a solid movie. The action scenes were really good, and the movie as a whole had the rip-off Singer feel (which is good). However, I didn't care for certain aspects of the plot. The characters that died/lost their powers kinda made me sad (not within the context of the movie, but just because I'm a long-time X-Men fan), but at the same time the endings (both before and after the credits) basically say that those will all be undone anyway. Professor X is still alive and the "cure" seems to not be permanent, so Mags, Rouge and Mystique will be getting their powers back. They left an "out" for bringing back Scott as well, since they never actually showed him die, and when Logan asked Jean what she did to Scott, she never actually said she killed him.

Overall, it's not a bad movie at all. It was actually pretty decent, just not as good as the first two. It made me wonder what Bryan Singer would have done with it, and wish Fox had been patient and just waited for the guy to finish Superman Returns so Singer could have done X3 like he wanted to. Maybe he can come back and clean up with X4, which the ending(s) of this movie all but guarantees.

    The Good:

Wolverine was handed well, as usual. He killed more people than ever, which was a suprise in a PG-13 movie. Just something so right about Wolvie running around a forest stabbing people. Anyway, Hugh Jackman always brings the goods to the role. Kick to the nads FTW.

Beast was perfect. However, I almost vomited when they let him say his "Oh my stars and garters!" comic book catchphrase. Ugh.

In the brief screen time that she had, Mystique was awesome. I LOLed when she was taunting the guard in the transport truck.

"I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch!" got a laugh.

Super mutant power freakdown in the end battle. It was great to see them really cut loose.

Magneto's jailbreak on Mystique was awesome, especially when he was crushing the trucks and tossing them aside like used tissues.

Psylocke was a hottie. Too bad she did nothing and was killed.

Nice to see Storm really get to use her powers and fly and shit, but Halle Berry still sucks.

I want to bitch that Gambit wasn't in the movie, but he would have gotten lost among all the cameos anyway. Next movie, maybe.

The digital de-aging thing with Mags and the Professor was pretty cool.

Mags/Pyro flaming flying carbomb combos kicked ass.

Iceman "iced up" was cool, but no ice slide? Eh, that probably would have looked retarded, anyway.

Lifting the whole bridge at the end might have been overkill, but it's a comic book movie. It made for a cool visual, and provided ammo for the aforementioned flaming flying carbombs.

Wow, Wolvie was looking like The Terminator when Jean was burning his flesh off at the end, huh? Good thing he has that healing factor.

Best of all, Wolverine FINALLY didn't have his ass kicked by a woman. Well, I guess he did when Jean was tossing him around in the medlab and later at the end, but that doesn't count since it wasn't hand-to-hadn combat. Thankfully, most of the actual ass-kicking was done by Juggy this time around, who isn't a woman.

    The Bad:

The X-Men looked retarded for coming to the aid of the humans at the end of the movie. I mean, why would they make machine guns that shot the cure if they weren't planning on forcing it upon the mutants?

Angel was worthless, and should have not been in the movie. But he was worthless in the comics too.

Yeah, the Phoenix could have been handled a lot better, but it didn't really bother me. The whole Dark Phoenix saga happened before I got into comics as a kid. I know it's considered a big deal and I respect that and all, but whatever.

    Can't see the Sentinel. Bullshit.

Colossus was barely in the movie. I think he did more in X2.

Magneto blowing off Mystique right after she takes the cure while saving him. I didn't like that, and it seemed totally out of character.

Ian McKellen is getting really old.

Professor X was a real dick in this movie. What's with the attitude?

Kitty Pryde was totally blah. That sucks, I liked her in the comic back in the day.

Yeah, they fucked up with Leech/Juggernaut. Juggy's not a mutant, he shouldn't have been affected.

Rogue barely had anything to do in the movie. However, it makes sense that she took the cure, especially since it's been three movies and they've done nothing with her taking and using other mutant's powers in combat, let alone the Ms. Marvel storyline when she takes her powers permanently.

Wolvie crying when Professor X "died".

Scott barely being in the movie and his fate. He's a central guy in the comics, especially with the whole Dark Phoenix story. Geez.

What happened to the Professor sucked too. Like Scott, you can't really have X-Men without him.

I also didn't care that mutants seemed to be getting too well known and accepted by the end of the movie. I like the whole "world hates and fears them" and they have to live in secret stuff.

Dude, I saw this in a few stores here and was dying to pick it up, but I wanted to find a review or something online first to find out the quality. For all I know, it's all shitty low-res scans or something. Please post impressions once you take a look. If it's quality I'd totally buy it.

Like Fighter X says, it beats buying all the back issues.

  10. The Marvel and DC DVD's are all pretty good. The scans were pretty nice and the colors weren't washed out. My brother got one a few weeks back and he spent hours just pressing next on his DVD player reading them all.
