Thread: Boondocks to hit TV

  1. #21
I remember when the strip began national syndication; it was so full of promise. It provided an appreciable number of cast members with the promise of more on the way, looked relatively unlike anything else, and seemed to have enough variance in content to sustain itself for a long time. It was also at this time when a TV series was hinted at, but nothing concrete was ever set.

Now, McGruder doesn't even draw the fucking thing anymore.

    Poor Jen Seng.

  2. 24 minutes of that? Piss the hell off.

The strip is not, has not been, and never will be funny.

    End of fucking discussion.

  4. Poor Jen Seng.
    What? She draws it now?

Guess she got tired of drawing SD Guiles.

Eh, it may do well though. Randomly shouting "holla" seems to be popular among the kids these days.

    That about sums it up.

The Boondocks used to be a good strip, but McGruder sold out waaaaay too quickly.

  7. Bloom County was definitely the best political strip.

Calvin & Hobbes, owns everything otherwise, however.

Boondocks was very funny in the beginning, but it dropped off quickly. McGruder really doesn't even draw it anymore? How can he still make fun of BET? That lowers almost all of his credibility to nil. A cartoon series based on the strip will do terribly because the strip had few readers to begin with.

  8. I never got the boondocks in my local paper, so I read some online. Some of them were pretty funny. Not the best comic in the papers right now, but much better than a lot of the ones in my local paper. But I'm not sure if it would work as a show.

  9. Fox decided not to run it. Now probably heading to Adult Swim.

Great, that's all that channel needs is more garbage next to The Oblongs and Baby Blues.
