??? I am getting confused now. There are far too many "trans" words out there. What exactly does it meant then? I always thought that transgendered = transexual, in the sense that they got the operation done.

EDIT: I get it now. "Transgendered" is used for both transsexuals and transvestites. :/

Actually, transvestites aren't always transgendered. They can simply be men who enjoy dressing like women, or women who enjoy dressing like men, but don't actually feel like the opposite gender. Transsexuals feel like the opposite gender, regardless of whether they actually get the operation or not (hence the phrases pre-op and post-op). Transgender is the same thing as transsexual, but for some reason is considered more PC.

Basically, don't try to figure it out because you'll end up using the wrong word no matter what and then a tranny will organize a rally to combat your gross intolerance.

Incidentally, the most surreal experience of my life was when a guy in stiletto heels and a long red dress was calling me an "intolerant faggot" at the top of his lungs because I made the mistake of calling him transsexual (he apparantly preferred being called transgendered).

They're a touchy bunch.
