That was the big suprise for me, I didn't expect the multiplayer to be so well thought out and so developed. They really put a lot of thought into it, it's just fu&5&ng crazy good. I've gotten pretty far into the single player game and I love it. This is a sequel done proper.

  2. Fantastic game so far!

Only complaint is the barriers that force you to get Pikmin types in a certain order seem a bit predictable and dull. After you get all the types I'm sure the level design gets more interesting?

I do think the caves work as a nice contrast to the overworld section, being claustrophobic, action-oriented segments. In a way, this game actually parallels Zelda now in the sense of exploring this whimsical world and peering into deep caves. The tightly structured strategy mentality of the first game is somewhat gone, but with other ideas in its place.

Concerning the framerate it seems to be a rock solid 30 fps to me, which is probably more natural than 60 fps. Also, some clever blurrying effects contribute to this...like whatever filters and effects they used to make the photo-realistic Piklopedia. The art direction for the creatures and Pikmin is also wonderful.

The multiplayer is better than I expected too! I was thinking cooperative play might work best for multiplayer Pikmin, but the VS battle really works well with the play mechanics and there are many strategic possibilities. Also nice is the generous selection of battle arenas (all randomly generated too, but with similar features for each). Already I've had some furious, memorable matches.

  3. They didn't have the timeless caves in the first one?

PS: I know you told me so. Ass

It took me over 29 hours but I finally got every treasure piece. It gets challenging late in the game.

So buy it. It's the sequel Nintendo didn't screw up.

Oh man I breezed through this game on release day, getting the money by day 10, but then things got tough. Now I'm happy I don't have a time limit, because it's taking me many multiple days to collect every piece, even with the no time limit on caves. It's getting the pieces during the day and making so that you get into one or two caves a day and STILL getting the treasure outside that makes it so challenging.

Now I'm in a freaking hole where all I could take are blue pikmin and there's fire and poison and stuff EVERYWHERE. And a something I shouldn't say that murders me. Jesus. I think I might just bail on this cave and try again, even though it's sunset outside and I want this treasure so badly.

I'm on day 17 now and about halfway done. I will HAVE to play it again to do it faster!!!

There are no rules, only consequences.

  6. I watched a friend play this at EB today. I decided that I am going to try and finish the first pikmin this week, then pick up 2.

It's just to damn awesome looking.

The advert for it on TV is HILARIOUS! ... AAND a little creepy.
I think I laughed harder at this than that old Japanese Zelda ad.
    ...
And also felt less creeped out.

  8. Finally, EAD returns to form. Let's hope that this bodes well for Zelda and their other projects.

  9. Nintendo did a really great job with this sequal. Lots of additions but kept all the core elements in tact. I am sitting at like day 40 something and have 2 caves left to do to complete the single player campaign. Great great stuff.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!
