Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Official Thread

Uh huh.

It's not something you can explain. I can't tell you why the controlls are perfect, why the levels are designed well, why the graphics are amazing to look at, why the score is beautiful, why the modes in multiplayer are so entertaining, you have to experience them.

But when all is said and done, I really don't give a flying fuck wether or not you like Halo 2.

The controls are pretty stock standard FPS controls these days, Half Life on PS2 has identical control set ups for the most part.

The levels seemed relatively laid out like most other FPSes I've seen before.

IT does have a VERY catchy main theme so Halo does get props for Music. That's it really.

What else makes this God send of FPSes? Why should this get play time instead of Counter Strike or UT or whatever? I'm still waiting for some one to tell me what Halo has done that's so exemplary, to me, Halo seems like a pretty average FPS.

There is no reason to fuck with perfection. I doubt Bungie has any regrets for not incorporating a non standard and flawed controll scheme.

The mutlipalyer levels are the best I have ever played in a console online FPS. They are perfectly built to allow an amazing depth of strategy.

I'm still waiting for some one to tell me what Halo has done that's so exemplary.

Man, I've seen two quotes of remnant's posts today, both of which are beyond comprehendible levels of stupidity. Can we ban him yet?

Honestly, its really not. The PlayStation came out in Japan in 1994 and hit its peak in 1998. I really doubt we'll see games that look so much better than Conker BFD or Metroid Prime 2 (that Zelda surely doesnt). And thats only 3-3.5 years.

Plus, I mean, look at what Betheseda is doing with the new Elder Scrolls. That game alone should tell you that developers are ready for new hardware.

I haven't seen the new Elder Scrolls. I'll go check it out. But I know there are people that just recently came out with new graphics engines for PS2 for example. I know the PS2 has alot more untapped potential than the Xbox or GameCube, but seeing how much more they are able to sueeze out of it is amazing. Im willing to bet the Xbox and GC still have quite a bit of potential left. Its just a question of whether or not the cost is worth it, but with new systems just around the corner I doubt we'll find out.

ok..Contradiction! Seriously though, more talk on Echoes please.

I'm missing 4 keys to open up the sky temple and then I'm done. Cow, if you still visit the thread, I'm at 87% scans and 71% items, it gets more fun when you can just roam around Aether without any real threats.

Like most Metroid games, its more towards the end where you can open just about any door and give payback with ease to enemies who used to give you a hard time.

Yeah, Rocca and I totally agree on that, like we always do on everything.

For the first time in Echoes, I've died, and its at the last boss. And holy !@#$ is he hard. I only have about 9 energy tanks and he still wipes em off clean. I'll probably get back to it later, I really feel like finishing it tonight.
