I agree with Sethsez...the first had something intangible (or something I can't verbalize) that made it have extra loads of fun. I've only played it twice but I think about playing it alot, heh.

...Knowing omfgninjas's real name is kind of weird.
You should still try Echoes, Eric.

Yeah, and it wasn't just the fact that Samus was on Tallon IV, an inhabited Chozo planet, but something else. I'll agree that Prime was a far better experience, but Echoes was nevertheless awesome, it's just that sometimes it felt more like an upgrade of the first with no style to call its own.

Cow: Where you at in Echoes now?

Oh, Echoes definitely has its own style, it's just not a style that can sustain an entire gameworld.

That's pretty much what I meant to say. In a way, I find that it doesn't stray away enough from Prime, but in a way it's also very different. Damn that "more of the same" syndrome.

In related news, I almost have 90% of items, but I don't really think that I'll be going all the way. Also, there's a dude I speak with often that was the only person on the planet really counting down the days for Echoes. When he finally got it, he hated it to death. He loves it now, but says the beginning starts off slow? Does anyone agree with him? I found the hanging Marines off the wall fricking cool. Comments! =D

  5. The beginning is definitely lacking compared to Super and Prime. This one just sort of... starts.

Yeah...I like Prime because it was so immersive and because it was just you in one huge planet. But when I go back to Prime, I notice a bunch of little details that were beefed up in Echoes and it makes me gag. For instance, the character model on Samus in Prime isn't as cool as in Echoes, but that's not something you can really complain about. Phendrana Drifts is still hella cool though. I started a game last night and I just reached the place.

Seth, did you finish Echoes or are you stuck somewhere?

  7. Not stuck, just... not particularly interested in continuing. I'm going to finish it soon, but there's nothing in the game that really drives me to do so.

One thing I don't like about Echoes, believe it or not, IS the Samus model. Most of the model is very cool, but her faceplate is too clear. In artwork and previous games, it's always almost solid or completely solid green, and here it's like slightly tinted glass. Echoes is definitely sharper and more detailed than Prime, but all the details just don't add up to much of anything for me.

Still a fantastic game overall. Just not nearly as compelling as Prime.

That happened to me halfway in the game, I must have had 63% scans or so when I just got bored, but I'm sure it was more due to the fact that I was on Echoes for the last 6 hours that day.

Man, I love Samus's look in the new one. And the main reason is actually because of how translucid and light the visor is. It really does hide away the mystery of Aran's face and all, but I'm all down for that. Another huge reason why I like the Echoes model more is due to her shoulder pads on her Varia Suit. If you go back to Prime, you'll notice how much bigger they are, it seems less proportionnate, especially next to her head. My mouth was watering when she crash landed on Aether and did her traditional jump onto the new planet, <3 Shine.

Luckily, the Dark World is about one tenth of the Light world, so you'll be roaming through it during the first half of the game, then you'll be pretty busy in the Light world, however getting the 9 keys of the Sky Temple forces you to head back to the Dark side.

  9. Finished it. I think overall I preferred the first, for a variety of reasons. Still a great game, but lacking in some aspects (very few gameplay related, fortunately). Largely story.

Missed a few of the one time scans apparently, wound up in the high 90s :/ No boss gallery for me, I doubt I'll replay it for 100%

  10. I'm accepting tips and tricks for the final boss.

I got him to his third transformation, I'm guessing theres one more transformation after that since I have him scanned up to 80%.

    Thanks in advance,

    D
