Thread: HALO - 2-player co-op, difficulty, etc.

  1. Halo is one of my top 3 games of ALL TIME, due in no small part to the awesome Co-op mode (check the newest edition of tnl'sweekly haul ). If they only allowed the link up for 4 or even 8 man squads on co-op, the game would be too outstanding for words....the only thing that gives me hope for this is the PC release later this year; hopefully, we can take a 12-man chalk into battle and maybe even play as the covenant, which was originally supposed to happen. *crosses fingers*

Not only does the game have decent length, I wouldn't be surprised if you play certain levels over and over just for fun, regardless of the difficulty setting. The game allows for many, many ways to approach certain stages, and I've come up with new ideas virtually every time I've played (which has been at least once or twice a week for the last 5 1/2 months).

Also, don't overlook the various deathmatch modes. There's something pretty special about having a roomful of buddies blasting, sniping, and driving over each other. Hours and hours of entertainment, guaranteed.

I'm definately sold on this game. This will be my next purchase, as soon as I get the summer income flowin'.

I never expected to like Halo, but I'm glad I tried it out !!

That's what I'm hoping for, too... I really wanted to like Halo (I did!), and I remember how kick-ass it sounded when it was being developed for the PC. If they can fix the game up (no slowdown in multi), re-insert all their promises, and release it soon, I'd be very, very interested in it. A PC version would be great, with good controls, a lot less slowdown, and individual screens for all!

BTW, why does everyone make such a big deal out of the co-op mode? I thought it was a really cool idea back when my friend and I first used it to play through Doom. If it's not included nowadays, I feel slightly disappointed. The best co-op experience I've had in the past few years was System Shock 2... now THAT was sweet. Halo's wasn't all that. Three of us beat it the week it was released, and I actually nodded off when it wasn't my turn to play.

  5. Just played the first two levels by myself. Fantastic !!

Now, the save system works by saving from the last checkpoint you hit, correct ?? If that's the case, that's damn awesome because it means youy can save and turn off the game mid-level
Can someone verify this for me ??

Too lazy to test it out myself,

    Yes, and yes.

Glad you're enjoying it. Watch out for those plasma grenades.
